BTW Sportsbet have paid out on Gazza Brownlow,be nice if our mob followed suit so we can turn it over and get it settled.

Sportsbet is paying out all Ablett for Brownlow bets. Wonder if our mob will do the same?

Hey pobt for the uneducated gambler what do you mean here?

Sportsbet have done this before. What they do is pay out to people who bet on something they think is a foregone conclusion before it has even been decided.

In this case anyone that has money on Ablett for the Brownlow is getting paid their bet win as if they have won. When obviously it's not known yet.

They do this for 2 reasons IMO.

1) to make them look really good to their punters
2) so they can write off that money as a loss and get people reinvesting their winnings in other bets (or more Brownlow bets)

Effectively it's a marketing tool.

Not sure if you are limited in the number of legs you can put on a multi but see how this goes

Hawks win
Melbourne win
West coast win
Freo win
Essendon win
Lions win
Sydney win

@ about $20

If you are limited to a maximum of 5 legs then please take out the Lions and Sydney

Who is this Lace Out bloke?

Oh, that's right - he was with me in wanting to back Watson for the Brownlow last year.

If you take him off your ignore list you'll be able to see his posts.

Well it is with a massive sense of relief that I can report that the 2013 BigFooty Lions Board Punters Club season is finally over.

The croupier is calling no more bets, the bar is shut, the lights have brightened considerably and the band is playing Closing Time in the corner.

It is fair to say that this year was perhaps the most painful, disastrous year filled with fail since this concept began.

With 18 punters each having 2 x $10 bets (except for wabaa who could not be contacted to have his final bet) one would have thought we'd be a chance of a few decent bet returns to help flesh out our war chest.

Instead from a grand total of 36 bets we managed 2 bet returns.

Voss the boss wins this year's Top Punter award with a $30.35 return being our single, highest bet result for the year.

An encouragement Award goes out to Cousin Jed for getting us a $18.5 return from one of his bets. But because it came at the cost of Australia losing an Ashes Test Match we'll just let that one go quietly through to the keeper (something our top order is not able to achieve).

Currently the SportingBet kitty for 2012 shows a balance of $48.85 at the end of play. The keen mathematicians amongst you will realise that should read $58.85 and comes as a result of a clerical error on my part earlier in the year when I bet $10 on a bet someone proposed before I realised they only wanted $5 on it. I then "evened it up" with a sneaky $5 bet on McKeever for first goal at long odds when I heard he was in the Seniors and playing forward.

So after a year of punting we're "up" to the tune of $58.85.

Of course there is still the issue of our Pending Bonus Bets to finalise which may, after all, give us something to hang out hats on. Although since the first one of those was used to place $50 on Daniel Merrett for All Australian selection I'm not so sure...

Ablett for Brownlow looks strong with $50 on @ $3.75.
Cloke for Coleman looks shaky with him 6 goals from the lead with 4 to play.
Fremantle for Top 4 looks a decent shy with $25 on at $1.50.
Hawthorn to make the GF looks ok with $50 on at $1.80.
Hawthorn/Swans GF Quinella also a chance with $25 on at $7.

So maybe, just maybe, we'll have some decent $$ remaining once it all plays out.

Unfortunately though it looks like any thoughts of getting a Punters Club Player Sponsorship is out the window for 2014 sadly and a recent little tradition is broken. Sadly I feel that Blacky might retire and our support won't be required by him anymore anyway. :(

Anywho... I'll show myself out...

Top job Jorgo - all your hard work is much appreciated.

I feel a bit like Steven Bradbury, finishing on top because everyone else fell down.......:D

I feel that I may be a Jonah in this Club.
You may remember last year I bought in late. The profits were up and I paid top dollar ;)
After then, the losses increased and the club was on the downwards. I think TheBrownDog recognised this and jumped ship just in time. 2013 results speak for themselves.
So, feel free to throw me overboard fellas...

Thanks again Jorgo for your efforts!
