Cheers Jorgo. I recognise that managing the Punter's Club is not an easy job, especially when punters are throwing money down the drain with one bad bet after another. It's fair to say the group has lost it's way. We no longer have the respect of the Brisbane Lions sponsorship department. No longer can we look each other in the eye and say we did everything we could to win our bet. We need to take a good hard look at ourselves, put our hands up and say "I can do better". We need to bring back the passion that befits the proud tradition of the Punter's Club.

So who's in for 2014?

Perhaps the Punter's Club could approach a finance institution for a loan?

Interest rates are at record lows. With our track record they'd be mad not to.

Cheers Jorgo for organising all of the bad bets throughout the year. Looking forward to 2014 so we can do it all again.

Anywho... I'll show myself out...

I am not a fan of this, it's time to draw a line in the sand.
On behalf of the Punters Club,

Hawks 40 +
Geelong 40 +
Carlton win
Sydney win

$10.00 at $5.32 logged.

I am going to continue on a weekly basis until our pride is restored, or I win Biggest Loser.

Update on Bonus Bets...

Of course there is still the issue of our Pending Bonus Bets to finalise which may, after all, give us something to hang out hats on. Although since the first one of those was used to place $50 on Daniel Merrett for All Australian selection I'm not so sure...

Well this is not going to get up.

Ablett for Brownlow looks strong with $50 on @ $3.75.

Not following AFL as closely at the moment but you'd think this is still a decent chance.

Cloke for Coleman looks shaky with him 6 goals from the lead with 4 to play.

He is now 2nd, 3 goals behind Roughhead.

The Hawks play Sydney this weekend @ ANZ and the Pies play Norf @ the G. So at least Roughie won't have an easy night and you could argue Cloke has a chance to regain the lead here.

There is still danger from behind him though with Cameron (v Gold Coast @ Metripong) & Kennedy (v Adelaide @ Patersons) just 1 goal behind our man Cloke.

Could be interesting...

Fremantle for Top 4 looks a decent shy with $25 on at $1.50.

This has been paid out and we have $12.50 extra in our account! (don't get the stake back)

I think we all know what BT would say...

Hawthorn to make the GF looks ok with $50 on at $1.80.
Hawthorn/Swans GF Quinella also a chance with $25 on at $7.

With Hawthorn & Swans playing good footy and entrenched in the top 4, thereby getting the double chance, these are still very much alive.

Account Update

We currently have $238.85 in the 2013 Account.

By maths the below is the return from our Bonus Bets:

  • $137.50 return on Ablett Brownlow.
  • $40.00 return on Hawks making the GF.
  • $12.5 return on Freo for Top 4.
i.e. we have won $190.00 from Bonus Bet returns.
Which meant we had $48.85 in our kitty before the Bonus Bet returns.

In order to withdraw Bonus Bet winnings you have to re-bet them and win them back. So before we can withdraw the $190.00 this has to be re-bet.

I would imagine we'd plan to start with a new account next year and migrate any left over $$$ into it so we do need to re-bet this $190.00.

There are a few strategies here:

a) layoff the entire $190 on a short priced favourite we think is a lock to ensure we keep the $190
b) go for broke on something reasonably tasty with the hope of growing the $190
c) go for a half/half strategy of the above

For the sake of keeping this interesting & tied to the AFL season timings I'd like to have this wrapped up by the end of the week, or next week at worst case.
Pls vote on a), b) or c) for your preference and include a bet you'd like to place...

e.g. vote for a) and suggest we plunge the $190 on Denver Broncos to beat Oakland Raiders @ $1.06

You have until Thursday night to have voted.

What's Sumich for West Coast?

Perhaps Leppa-Sumich combo?

In the "Australian Rules" section of Sportingbet I can't find any markets except for the GF & Norm Smith.
