Lions face decade of pain: Terry Wallace

Brisbane should brace for up to a decade of on-field pain because of the failed recruiting experiments which culminated in this week's sacking of Brendan Fevola, according to former Western Bulldogs and Richmond coach Terry Wallace.

And Wallace predicted more immediate concerns, claiming one of three unsigned WA stars - Matthew Leuenberger, Daniel Rich and Mitch Clark - had already committed to Greater Western Sydney, while others were likely to follow as the club's 2011 season descended into disaster.

How will the next decade be pain for us? We have one of the youngest lists in the AFL and in three years some of our players could become A grade players. On top of that we have Hadley who is a great recruiter. We did have some success and failure with the trades but so does everyone else. We still managed to get Harwood in the Buchanan trade even though i think it was a bad one, Staker has been good so far and Bartlett could become a nice player.

Also there is no way i would trust Wallce when he says that one of Leui, Rich and Clark have signed with GWS as he predicted a lot of other rumours if his past that have failed. Probably got his source from bigfooty.

Oh **** me. I read the headline and thought we'd appointed Terry Wallace as CEO, and hence faced a decade of pain. That makes finding out it's just referring to one of his rants almost relieving.

Nothing the tanned one says is very relevant today. What is it with everyone sinking the boot into us before the season has even started? At least wait till round 5 or 6!

If he is saying we have ten years of pain then we are on the right track. How hard is it for someone to realise that we needed a rebuild after Black, Brown and Power anyway. Can't wait to we start playing our full strength team and everyone realises that we're not a basket case.

Why is everyone in the footy world (except Emma Quayle) such sheep...

I remember two years ago 'respectable' journo's ranting about how they thought Richmond and Melbourne were 5 and 4 years away respectively from being anywhere competitive...look at those teams now!

Here was I, hoping you would make a GF appearance within a couple of years so we could get some pay back.

I guess we will have to wait a while.

Really hope that Richmond make the 8 this year. I've always had a soft spot for them and so glad they took a punt and gave Ben Cousins his second chance.

Yep. Clearly one year of trading caused our list issues. That's the kind of top shelf expertise and analysis that has seen you employed by the media Wallet. :thumbsu:

Perhaps some more analysis in why the team has such a dearth of quality middle-aged players is in order...:

I guess we will have to wait a while.

Yeah, that's probably the pain, we won't get to play & beat you guys in a GF real soon.;)

After hearing is comments from the AFL trade week and Not even knowing the rules one has to wonder what his thinking, he just recycles unsourced info from journo's with an agenda, he's a sheep of the highest order who wants to be relevant, quick go get Denis Pagans opinion..

Master list builder your time in the sun is over, go back inya hole.

After winning three flags in a decade any following decade was expected to be tough, Captain OBVIOUS.

This is pretty concerning, Terry Wallace knows how to inflict pain on a football club better than any coach over the last 100 years. If he thinks we are in for a rough ride then he would know best.

Maybe we should get him to coach the lions to fast track things? He only needs 5 years.

Given Teflon Terry's track record, if I were you guys I'd be confident that you will have your best ever decade

He probably said the same thing about the Lions back in '98

Its Terry Wallace... enough said. He's having a crack at everyone lately, forgetting how he stuffed Richmond around for so long.

LOL I'm totally over the crap coming out of the 2 Ms (Melbourne & Media)
Now I have a good belly laugh when I read yet another prediction:D
Just thinking about our boys and wonder about all this motivation to succeed... This inspiration on top of everything else :thumbsu: I for one will be very surprised if the boys didn't really bust a gut this year with all this motivation. May spring load another dynasty ... just like last time :)

I wouldn't expect anything better from Terry Wallace, a failed coach who is destined to float around the football media like a t**d in a punchbowl until everyone realises how irrelevant and pointless his opinions really are.

Terry Wallace = care factor of zero.

Terry Wallace obviously doesn't subscribe to the adage that a week is a long time in football. Perhaps because not much changed in his 5 years at Richmond.

Decade of pain Lmfao just cause he sucked at recurting doesn't mean we have.Ok we picked a few spud's but we aren't as bad as other side's I think we do have a future of final's in the next 5 year's.

Redden,Rockliff,Rich,Polec,Banfield can be the the next Lappin,Voss,Black,Akermanis,Hart.
