All three players we added in last year's National Draft won a premiership.

The Lions midfield get so much praise as do their high half flankers. This defensive unit however gets slept on. They were mega in the SF, PF and GF.

In the Granny, Geelong had registered only 7 goals until junktime. 2 out of those 7 goals were from softish freekicks given to Neale and Bowes. Another was from a 50 metre penalty when Brisbane seemed on top. That is an unbelievable performance against a really quality forward line.

The Pies were accurate and kicked 11.5 however 6 of the 11 goals came in the second quarter. That means for 3/4 quarters, the Pies were restricted to just 5 goals. Mega .

The Suns scored the first two goals in the SF. After that, they scored only four goals in 3.5 quarters of footy.

Everyone knows Harris is generational but Dizzy, Starc and Lester are a massive part of the success.

I didn't realise how close Matho was to alot of the boys still.

No overseas trip for Kai focused on getting his body right for next year.

I get the feeling that he is now very much a Brissy Lad and think he will re-up and stay here long term.
Loved that when in the Q and A from fans at the end on keeping receipts from the AFL media he was quick to defend Charlie.

Kai - enjoys the big stage and crowds; 'it brings out something (else) in me'.

Yep, loved him backing Charlie in against media criticism.

A good reminder of what a tight knit group the lions are, and the self-belief the playing group has when it comes to bouncing back from a poor performance or producing their best when it counts.

Can't wait for 2026. Bring it on!

17 of our 27 games were against top 9 teams truely dominant season and may be our greatest in the Fagan era.

I have no doubt that they will try and hand us the hardest match ups they can but not sure it can work out quite as difficult this year.
Especially with the GC being one of our top 6, not to say they won’t be any good of course.

Now that they're a top 6 team it's not such a big deal. This year the impact was at its worse

I know they were a prelim team last year but it feels like the pies might slide out of the top 6 next season and they are normally a double up for us.

It seems like the harder the draw the better for us...we thrive on challenges and really struggled this year when playing games that on paper seemed like "easy" wins. Geelong faltered at the end after an incredibly soft draw leading into the finals, as did the Swans last year. The Crows had a soft draw and came unstuck under the blowtorch of finals pressure. If we are good enough to get a top 4 spot then we will be hardened by the journey. I reckon our big challenge next year will be to get some intimidating Gabba form back - we often seemed really off at home this year - ironically, with goal kicking, especially.
