Lions 'politically correct' footy forum

I don't know about anyone else, but check out www.lions.com and see what you think about the new forum. I don't know about anyone else out there, but sometimes I like to bask in the glory of a team or sporting individual and other times I like to grind them to the ground. But you know what I like most? Remaining anonymous while getting feedback from others whether they agree or disagree with me. People speak shit all the time and I just don't know when sport lost the good that is suppose to be associated with it. If fans want to bitch online, let them, hell they do it anyway, next thing you'll know our comments in the stadium will be monitored.

Typical Lions though. Their admin must be mad. Telling supporters we dont want you unless you become a member. Last I heard they didn't have that many members.

Hey being a Lions supporter and a forum user what would you know about the Forum? We had a dickhead who was writing some really stupid things on there and the board is trying to put a stop to the chance that liable things have a name to them not just anon. Our membership is way up this year by the way.

Let's hope other club forums don't go the same way. I love getting on the Weagles forum to have my 2 cents worth.
Is this censorship or just a way of boosting their membership numbers & their finances.

Still I suppose the Lions are at least keeping their forum open. Hawthorn and Adelaide closed theirs for a while. As it is a service clubs offer to their supporters, they are also responsible for it and could be as Lionlover has already pointed out, legally liable for abusive, racial, religious, sexual etc. comments appearing on their websites.

But they do have that disclaimer at the beginning of the forum, so shouldn't that be all thats needed.Then take off any offending material.They will need to do that anyway in the future.The form you have to sign, says that they can remove you from the forum at any time, so if they dissapprove in some way with what you have said , then you can no longer use the forum.This is scary.
I am a supporter, due to financial probs this year I can't afford a membership.My problem is that because I can not afford a membership, I am not wanted anymore.I have never said anything offensive on the forum. Can't they just do a form, and verify the details. They have to verify the new details anyway.I am on their records, they know who I am.
I just happen to think that they are wrong on this one. We have a lot of supporters, who are not members for whatever reason, we should be encouraging their support, not telling them we don't want you.

I found this site, becuase on our Lions forum, they were bagging the people here, about some Lions stuff.
I will come back here, cause soon I will be not allowed access to the Lions site.
