THE Brisbane Lions have taken another massive off-field hit, recording a net operating loss of more than $2.5 million over the past year.

This year's figure, calculated for the financial year ending October 31, 2012, predominantly relates to the club's major long-term investment, the Lions@Springwood entertainment venue.

Johnson said the key points of the financial report resulting in the $2,513,262 net operating loss were:

• Total Club turnover of $43.9 million
• Football department expenditure of $17.2 million
• Social Club turnover of $13.7 million
