7.5 to 14.3 at the main break. X didn't make it to 1/4 time and has the ankle iced. Green, Harvey and Barry all limping noticeably. Really lost composure for about 15 minutes in that quarter. Ball- handling and handpassing have been lamentable all day.

NEAFL results-

Brisbane Lions
Goal Kickers: A. Cornelius 4, J. Polec 3, B. McCaulay 2, M. Austin , B. Saunders , B. McCulloch , A. Buchanan
Best Players: J. Hawksley, J. Dyson, A. Cornelius, A. Buchanan

Viewing from interstate- Polec finding the big sticks :) but not the best :(, and Acorn amongst the best as well as the goals. Josh Dyson also figuring amongst the best which is good news. (unless, of course, this week they meant least bad when stating the best?)

Hopefully Staker had as good a showing as possible when back from a long spell.

How Buchanon keeps going I have no idea. He was cleaned up again a few times yesterday -does he have a death wish??? Stakes appeared to injure himself in the first quarter but played the game out ok. Not sure why Green kept coming back on though, he seemed clearly not ok to me.

This game showed that the current format is just not a goer. With a significant number of make-up players the gap between them and the rest is huge.

I thought that Polec had quite a reasonable game. Definitely only a one-foot kick player. Thought Buchanan was a bit down, maybe because of non-selection. Copeland was really giving it to him. Green copped a leg injury early. Staker very tentative. Don't know what happened to Xavier.

The second major point for me was the very poor input from the 2 Macs- almost certainly not up to it IMHO. The old saying- only 178cm but played 183. In the case of our 2 rucks it's the other way around I'm afraid. Example- Copeland continuously elbowing McCauley in the back, with little or no response. Get serious.

Cornelius tried hard, once again receiving terrible delivery. Must be a club KPI.

Aspley have a great venue, but the spectator facilities are woeful.

Prolly a bit late for ya Don, but I've inserted the (known) player numbers into the above.

6.0.36 to 4.4.28 to the lions. Two each to McCoullough and Cornelius, singles to Kitching and Newell.

Staker should be in seniors next week off that quarter, was dominant. Bartlett had a couple of nice touches and at least one shocker. Buchanan and a few of the GWS boys had a blow up, he rolled Treloar's ankle in a tackle.
