Game 2 half time; 19-0 in arrears against some mob in white guernseys I dunno who they are. Hope we don't get too many wet days this winter because they're not even trying to adapt. Harwood playing well.
A-Corn played fullback in game 1 and rucked in game 2. His last 'quarter' was easily his best - much like the team as a whole.
Harvey improved as the day went on. The conditions were utterly deplorable, Quigs. Barely a clean possession across both games. Harwood was the only one that looked a class above his company.
Cheers MR
Anyone got any idea wtf Cornelius is not playing forward? We already look very short in quality up there without Brown and he is far and away our most dangerous young forward. Is it Voss is trying to get more defensive effort and awareness out of him or is he really trying to make him into a back? He has looked terrible whenever he has played back in AFL company but looked very serviceable as a forward.
Ressies beat Redlands 6.7.43 to 5.3.33
Second half goalkickers were Karnezis (a Stevie J special in traffic), Collier (nice set shot tight on the boundary) and a top up player.
Morningside next. We aren't playing against Mt Gravatt.
I like Cornelius playing back. It should help his match fitness / defensive work and it should teach him a fair bit more about the game than playing at full forward in the reserves.
Playing a young forward down back is a deliberate ploy that has been used by quite a few coaches in the past to help make them better players in the long run. For some reason Jarrod Molloy (at Fitzroy) springs to mind as an example, but there have been lots of others. You could perhaps throw in Daniel Bradshaw as well - I think making him play defence made him a better forward. Lynchy was already an extremely good backman, but it also helped him become a very good full forward when he made the shift.
Although for some it has become a much better position than the original - Daniel Merrett saved his career when he was moved down to full back.
If Cornelius can find the fitness to give second and third efforts throughout games and perhaps be a back-up for either end of the field, then his spot on the list is safe. But right now he is all the sudden looking like he has got a lot of work to do to keep his spot (with the likes of Lester and Retzlaff moving ahead of him).
