in the last 12 years of watching qafl football. i have never seen southport go a quarter without scoring a point. the lions just controlled the footy better and smashed them all over the park

Loads unhappy with the treatment of Crowley at the end of last season.
Writing has been on the wall for a while for me, have witnessed some outstanding arguments between members of their football department, one in particular so arrogant that his arguments don't even have to happen behind closed doors, just have them out on the floor of the Sharks club.
There was a long way to fall for this club. I feel sorry for the ex-Bear coach, was on a hiding to nothing.

i don't think they liked him saying they want their recruiting to be like morningsides. They fell apart last year and he gave them a few sprays and they deserved it

Went down to Coorparoo today.
Buchanan was in everything and got a ton of footy. Beams was also impressive, really liked his workrate. Thought Green showed glimpses of what the future could hold. Also pleasantly suprised by Austin's ball use. Retzlaff worked hard all day and was rewarded with a few goals. Harwood did some really good things in patches, drifted in and out of the game a tad though I thought. Expect Drummond to be playing seniors next week.
Must say I thought both Hawksley and Sheldon were disappointing. They are both playing for their careers, although you would barely have noticed today.

What position did Drummond play?
Sorry to harp on about it but I think he'd be brilliant as a third tall up forward. With Merrett, Hanley, McGrath, Adcock/Stiller, Patfull and Maguire/Staker down back there is enough class and versatility. Forward line of Clark, Brown, Drummond, Banfield, Power and a resting mid looks very dangerous as well. He'd be very creative up forward and his defensive pressure would be first class.

Great performance against a side that used to be the standard. Green was outstanding, Harwood very determined, Austin, Beams, Retzlaff, Buchanan, and McKeever all put in sound efforts.
Green will play seniors soon, although maybe not this year. Might be a chance for Banfield's place. And Retzlaff must be very close.
This side is a revelation to the one that turned out last year- very committed and hard at the ball. At last some pressure from below.

What do you reckon about McKeever? Seems to crop up in the bests most weeks without ever troubling the selection table. Any chance of a game this year?
