List Mgmt. List breakdown by age

I would say Port were in a similar position 2 or 3 years ago.

We are in the hands of the young footballer's gods I'm afraid. If a number of those youngsters work out we'll be ok.

Jeez there are a lot of ordinary players over 22

Take out Beams Daisy Shaw O'Brien a fit Swan and our older players are very average with the exception of Pendles/Cloke
You leave out Sidebottom? Reid when fit,
You also forget that amongst the younger players we have already put more games into them than is usual.

Taylor Adams, Brody Grundy, Jamie Elliott, Seedsman(Yep I went there), Freeman and Shazbang could all become A graders in my opinion. Couple that with a few others I'm very happy with that may never make A graders but will be solid enough to enjoy watching like Marley, Langdon, Witts (could make an A grader if things fall into place), Broomhead and BenKen. I also really like Frost but I wont throw him into the deep end yet. Then add a little Moore sugar with pick 5 this year, and I can't help but get excited. I don't see the point in worrying about it, we can't change it. Just hope for the best and hold on for a bumpy ride the ride of your life! I don't care if in two or three years time I look stupid for thinking they could make it, at least I will have enjoyed the hype :thumbsu:.
I feel there's reason to worry because this is the path the club has gone down and been very vocal about it. Looking at those names I'm not sure it's going to work. We should know more next year since they will have 3-4 pre-seasons into them, but if a few of them don't take the jump, were in trouble.

Sinclair. For me he should've been delisted instead of moving back. Not up to senior standard.
Fasolo the same. Should never have been moved back. Delist.
Elliott. I like.
Seedsman. Final season to show something. Must get more of the ball.
Williams. Unsure. Looks ok needs to find a role.
Thomas. Must become of our 5 best mids. One to watch but bring it consistently.

So in saying that.

Elliott makes it.

Williams and Thomas must step up.

Seedsman jury is out.

Fasolo and Sinclair should've been delisted. List cloggers.
This is the most positive post that I have seen from you and not sure whether I should post this response but agree with you on nearly everything except Sinclair. Think he will surprise us all.

Its impossible to get a Dayne beams type unless we find someone who is homesick, got a father that's ill,he tells his manager that he will only come to collingwood, and he tells Collingwood that all they need to risk is a third round draft pick.
That's why you need a club that the one you have doesn't want to exit.

We have a very young (and talented) list. I think that the 'experienced' guys this includes Swan, were as great a part of the problem in the club underperforming. I think we may well improve next year, I wouldn't be too surprized but we go in with low expectations.

Poor old Swanny. About 6 or 7 years of greatness that should have had him talked about in the same conversation as Buckley, Daicos, etc. A year of mediocrity -probably injury related. All of a sudden, he's the reason we're underperforming.

You don't reckon Fasolo needs an injury interrupted year before we write him off. I think if he gets his body right, he can become a high quality mid.

Injury and fitness excluded, more of what is between his ears, which is a shame as I do believe he is very skilful.

How was last years draft compromised?
As long as the Sydney and Queensland teams have academies the draft for mine is compromised.

Sydney's Academy for example has been in place since 2010.

The fact the the talent laden Swans as minor premiers and grand finalists were gifted Heeney at pick 18 one of the top choices in the country (who was bid on at pick 2) is a joke.

Fair enough. Can't say I have any insight into his mentality
Neither do I but I have seen his decision (or not) making, defending, anticipating, making position, extremely poor.
Not sure whether that is mentality or footy nous.

It's actually a fairly positive outlook post 2015/16 based on the op, age profile anyway. It's just it's mostly based on very young players improving as a group, and just drafted players living up to their ranking.

If that happens for the most part, and we can add some quality from other clubs, then a sustained period of success could be a real possibility.

It has been like that for years... Yes in many ways the Academy does make it compromised but unfortunately I see what we current have as the baseline 'fairness', which would make the GCS and GWS inception years the 'compromised' ones, and last year not.

Whilst in reality you're right (and you'd have to include f/s in compromising the draft too) it's around to stay for the foreseeable future and not comparable to the levels of benefits GCS and GWS had over those couple of years.

** Ages are as of Today.

1 x 30 year old
Majority of the list under 25.

I feel this is the last year we invest in the draft. We are perfectly positioned to trade aggressively next year and the year after for established talent as well as attacking free agency.

If we identify 2-3 talented players and can fit them under the cap, i will make a bold prediction. Top 2-3 in 2016.

As much as we have been knocked for going backwards at a rate of knots, our window was 2010-2012. We made 2 Grand Finals and won 1.

Our window closed for 2 years while still challenging for finals and i firmly believe that it swings back open. 2016-2021 will be a large period where the window remains wide open with the list that's been put together. I'm really starting to buy into the clubs direction although i had my doubts initially back in 2012/13.

For me the real worry is we have a 27yr old key forward in Cloke and then you have to go looking waaay down the thru the years for.....and I'm still looking....

**** me are people over sensitive. I don't even think the great man Swan would have been offended by my comment. I don't think what I said was untrue. Swan, injured or not, past great seasons or not, he had a poor year and he, despite having excuses and credits in the bank, was part of a long list of experienced players who didn't perform to a high standard that's required to win flags. Out premiership captain Maxwell was,, at times, also a part of this group as was Cloke for most of the season.

Hypothetically we take Wright at 5, and then Moore at 9.

In 5 years when Cloke finishes up, we will have 2 beasts in the Arc.

It's not all doom and gloom, but we do have a lot of eggs in the Cloke basket.

He's too small and can't kick. He'll never be up to it. Not sure why we've kept him. He was a speculative pick in the 60s from memory.

The biggest over sight from doing a chart like this is can Buckley keep all of those blokes under 22 and have them all together in the 25 column in 3 years. I'm thinking he can't given what taken place in recent times.

Can you do one with how old they will be starting round 1?

Surely Sinclair and Seedsman are on their last legs? 23 years old, have battled to play consistently in the seniors. They need to lift or else they'll surely be on the way out..

Seedsman has shown that he has the ability to be a consistent contributor. Just needs to get the ball in his hand a little more. I would like to see him play an attacking role, rather than negating. His foot skills kicking inside 50 would be an asset.

Sinclair is struggling for mine. Williams and Langdon both superior and play on the smaller opposition down back. I just can't see him being on the list beyond next year.

Absolutely. JThomas is in the same boat.
