Re: List Changes Speculation

If a local TV station is a ware of the delisting, I imagine all of them will be announced soon?

Re: List Changes Speculation

Any more news on Peterson and if he and the club have parted or mended bridges?
I guess the same applies to Hooper, although this seems less hopeful.

Any thoughts on whether not picking up Josh Hill has meant the club are re-assessing whether to keep guys like Muston, Morton, Stokes?

Re: List Changes Speculation

From a players perspective i would hope that the delistings are announced officially soon, maximising their chances of being picked up again.

If i was a player i would like the world to know i was being delisted as early as possible, sure it would hurt the pride, but you dont want it being left until the last minute (especially if it is a surprise) giving other clubs no time to give you a look in.

Clubs would plan for all drafts months in advance, so i would like them to know i was available giving me the best chance to be re-drafted.

To my knowledge the contracts expire at the end of october. So we'll know by the end of the month. Last year we didn't know till the first training session back. Thorp was given the flick that day, so one thinks certain players are given KPI's to work on and if they fail, there won't be another contract.

Re: List Changes Speculation

HI ^^ is on the money here. Last year a few were given their marching orders upon their return to the club. I have no problem with it. If you are fighting for your footy life you would do everything in your power to come back in good shape I would have thought.

Re: List Changes Speculation

The most important dates are list lodgement, the next one co-incides with contract expiry at the end of October. The final one is in December after the PSD.

Friday October 29, 2pm - List lodgement one. Rookie promotion to primary list, retained second year and third year rookies, scholarship player transfer to primary list or rookie list; international scholarship player transfer to primary list or rookie list. Gold Coast players contracted under rule 35.2 (local talent) may be included on the club primary list or rookie list with their consent, Gold Coast FC contracted nominated 17 year-olds included on the primary list, Gold Coast FC nominated 17 year-olds who have not accepted a contract may be included on the primary list, Gold Coast FC 2009 rookies who accept a contract offer may be included on the primary list or rookie list.

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

nooooooooooooooo

what are they doing! Skipper?! Poor guy had a good season, did everything we asked of him. Peterson and Hooper were on the cards, but still saddening :(

And Muston is gone :( I still had hopes for him, to keep Morton over Muston seems crazy... Sigh, they must have high hopes for the draft.

I suppose taking a step back, it is good in the sense that it shows an aggressive new policy of cutting everyone who isn't performing.... still against a few though. Also adds some space to snag a bunch of scholarship players.

Would the new coach of BHH have had any say in it?

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

Very surprised at the number of delistings... dowler, hooper, muston, taylor, peterson, skipper - all could have been left on the list.

If it tells us anything its that the club has a lot of faith in David Hale and Renouf holding down our rucks. If either goes down, then there's a very injury prone Bailey and not much.

I'm dissapointed that Muston was delisted. Thought he played the defesensive forward very well at times this year.

Really would of liked Muston kept. Never really got a run in the firsts :( Is he eligible for the Rookie list maybe?

No real surprise with Skipper tbh, Hale being traded in did him out. Thought he *may* of been kept as a rookie

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

I reckon Skipper might have decided to nominate for the draft. Perhaps a bigger deal in the offing somewhere else?

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

i cant belive they delisted Skipper and Muston, the rest were understandable..

morton should have been gone..

they must have high hopes for young Grimley this year to play a few games on the big stage..

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

Taylor and Skipper?

Might mean Bailey or Lowden are expected to step up next year?

Dowler, no suprise.
Muston, a bit surprised.

The rest I'm not too shocked to be honest. None really stepped up over the last 12 months.

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

I can understand all except Skipper. Would've thought he added depth in the ruck department and potentially added value as a sub. Then again this could mean that Bailey is ready to go in the seniors again.

However, perhaps this is the sign we've all been waiting for with these types being delisted to give the likes of Savage, Milne, Lisle, Shiels etc more of a go next year and then top up the list with players of the future.

Sad that Moss couldn't make it but pretty happy with Taylor's delisting.

Re: Hawthorn announces list changes

Matt Suckling stays.....

A few players on that list can probably consider themselves unlucky. Wish all of them the best of luck in securing another opportunity at top level footy elsewhere.

So we have drafted one ruckman, and delisted two. Strange maths.

Skipper was one of our best in THAT final against Fremantle, and the big fella could not have done anymore that was asked i don't think.

Maybe., and just maybe they'll use a PSD pick to snap him back up ?
