Re: Hawks drop 11 players....

Feel bad for big Skip, had a great year I thought. Plus Im mates with Musto so I disappointed with his outcome.

I think its a great move by the club tho. Those players haven't taken their chances. They can't say they wern't given a chance with all the injuries we've had over the last few years.

As mentioned in a previous Bartos Report, this is one of the pictures that Matthew Suckling has in his possession:

I must say I was surprised to read that you had delisted Skipper. I thought he played really well, and after the ruck problems you had last year it was even more surprising..Do you think he would be a chance of being placed back on the rookie list again? He will be a good pick up for someone who needs a 2nd ruck..Do feel for him, and we wonder why there is no loyalty any more. I hope he gets picked up, he did his best for you this year..I guess they have their reasons..

Read below...........

if you read back a few pages, there's a suggestion that Skipper may have an offer elsewhere through the draft... if that is the case, then it is more than likely he asked to be delisted to pursue this opportunity.

The club has put faith in Bailey.

Ruck Outs: Skipper, Taylor

Ruck Ins: Hale, Bailey, plus Lowden is a lot closer than this time last year.

I too think that Skipper may be giving himself every chance in the draft, possibly with a destination in mind, fair enough too. As good as he has been, I doubt that he would see himself getting a game ahead of Renouf, Hale and a fit(Please) Bailey.

It was sad to draft Dowler - but I dont know why they didnt trade him a few years ago when we knew he was no good but other teams hadnt worked it out yet....

So effectively , the best player in the list - Muston is out for whoever we can get at pick # 66, 88 or 120+ ? (depending on elevations - vets listing)

I wonder who that could be ?

One would think Breust gets an elevation to the senior list.
given we are having 5 picks in the draft I don't think there will be any rookie elevations, Bruest deserves a chance at senior level though IMO so he becomes one of those designated rookies or whatever they are called (like Moss was this year).

but that assumes all clubs will use their picks, not all delistings are in yet, think you will find that pick 5 will be more like pick 70 in the draft, every chance that Muston could be taken as a rookie.

I think Skipper and maybe muston are a bit unlucky.

I think that Morton and Suckling are very lucky.

It shows how bad our recruiting guys are that almost all of the delistings are wasted picks that never made it - not old guys who played well but their time has come.

I am happy.

Too many players were living on past performances or potential.

Time to give some others a go and hopefully pick some fantastic young kids with speed, skill and agility.

Our 2011 slogan should be: No more passengers

Listen carefully I shall say this only once.;)

If a player is out of contract, doesn't want to re sign, and wants to try his luck in the draft.

He is delisted - It is the only action available under the current system.

Taylor and Muston both requested to be traded.
Skipper has received guarentees of a senior list spot from elsewhere.

Get as upset with the club as you like but in the end some players choose to leave.

Could Skipper not have been traded for pick 134?

Pretty good work I reckon, our list needed a good cleaning out and that's what they did, I'm liking the makeover I must say.

Depending on the truth and whether or not they asked to be traded or they would walk, I feel for Musto and Skip, mainly because they deserved a spot more than suckling and morton. I'm hoping what Dr J is saying is true.

What does your dad think?

I disagree. Rookie picks are speculative at best. Tuck, Hooper and Peterson are gone for Non football related reasons. Skipper wants a better deal elsewhere. Taylor has been superceded.

Dowler and muston wrecked by injuries.
