Golby
McGuane

Out of contract (rookie list):
Hammelmann

With Maguire already retired, who else do we think will be delisted (or potentially retired in Staker's case)?

Lions Twitter is teasing an interview with Dawson. Possibly having re-signed...

Lots of people out of contract 2016

Hoping Mayes, Gardiner, Squizzy etc sign on longer.
Yeah, next season is a real line in the sand moment in terms of out of contract. I think we can be confident on Gardiner, as when Andrews won the NAB rising star the other week, Dizzy tweeted he hoped to play alongside him for many years to come.

And with Dizzy and Squizzy being best mates, that hopefully helps with Squizz.

Golby and quite possibly Bewick.

Yeah, I don't think I can handle another year with so many important players unsigned, it was bad enough with Aish.

Would be nearly done with AFL if we faced another exodus...* me

Better hope we at least push for top 8 next season or I could see a few players wanting out TBH.

We will be wanting to lock down most of the off contract stars in the off season. Usually if they haven't signed on early they are gone.

Yeah same, when you look at that list of players out of contract for 2016, that is our future right there

It wouldn't surprise me if the younger guys are more settled than the older guys. Everything Leppa has said and done suggests a longer term plan, and whether through circumstance or preference he's got a lot of games into the younger guys and given them prominent roles. I'd expect a lot of them feel assured of their roles long term, where some more senior guys might not be patient with the rebuild or happy with playing lesser roles than they'd like.

Sadly I think it is a reasonable chance that everyone out of contract on that senior list moves on. Aish, Bewick, Golby and Staker certainties IMO. Would like Adcock to stay purely for experience even if he doesn't get a game. Leuey I have always been a fan of, so would love to see him stay. McGuane said in an interview this week he is out of contract at the seasons end, and you would think his future depends largely on his knee. Paine also in trouble I think too.

Of the rookies, I don't think Bourke has done enough so he goes. Smith was always going to be a project player so happy for him to get another year. Beasly, Evans and C Hanley (no point cutting him after 1 year) to stay on rookie list or in Beasly's case perhaps be elevated to senior list. Hammelman I'm not sure about, young talls rarely set the world on fire early but by all accounts he has been underwhelming. His future could depend on if we can get and rate highly enough, people like Buzza and Dennis

Yeah what your saying makes sense for sure, only issue being youngsters these days seem to be getting impatient and wanting success much earlier in their careers. We might be vulnerable to losing someone like a Mayes or maybe a Redden under those circumstances.

Don't they usually do that in a press release or conference - doing it in an interview would be a bit unusual don't you think?

Would have thought having 20 out of contract at the end of next year at this time of year is pretty standard for most clubs.

I'm very confident on retaining Dizzy and Squizzy.

Really would love to have Mayes sign for a long time, from the posts I have read on here - He loves it up North, loyal and wants to start a new life there...So I am REALLY hoping that is 100% true.

Apparently is very close to Closey so maybe that will help also

Pretty sure there are a lot of players league wide out of contract next year as the new CBA will kick in the year after. No one will sign on until the CBA is negotiated and the new (higher) salary cap is locked in. Everyone will be pinning their hopes on a bigger payday on the new cap.

So is Harwood out of contract as well or is signed beyond 2015?
