Tbh I am not sold on Devon Robertson , there is a reason he slipped so far in the draft if we got a good offer from a WA club I would consider it

Don't want to stir up a hornet's nest but I'm leaning towards agreeing. A little slow ,not hugely skillful and needs to build up strength wise. He is hard at it and does some spoiling and tackling that others have his experience don't.

Yes I think he’s shown as much as Bailey did in his first few years. A definite keeper.

Dev, has he been as good as Raynor at this stage? Certainly this case could be made.

OP updated. With Joyce, B Smith and Ballenden confirmed delisted, and Ellis-Yolmen to be moved to the rookie list, we now have the 3 senior list spots required to take three picks at the draft.

I'm working under the assumption he'll be kept on as a Cat B rookie given all the talk from the club about using three picks at the draft (and Daly mentioning wanting to move 41 up).

Pretty disgraceful to delist Ballenden and Joyce and keep CEY and Matho. Anyone who saw the VFL games this year could see the ability this kid has. His strength, awareness and body positioning are going to be excellent. Can't believe we'd delist him when we will be looking at a replacement for Lyons either this year or next. Unbelievable!

Ballenden will be snapped up by another club and punish us for years. He just needs a maturing body and the confidence that that brings.

We've traded these two and their untapped potential for 2 players who we know aren't up to it.

No need to worry, as you say they will be snapped up by one of the other clubs and will have a great AFL career. We'll wish them well. As for Lyons, unlikely we'll be looking for replacement for he next three years as he's recently signed a long term extension.

Delistings are always tough and there is probably a case for every delisted player since year dot to have been retained.

I feel more for Joyce than Ballenden.

Ballenden got a few opportunities but never really seized them like a top player would have.

I think Joyce is more a victim of the Covid restricted VFL comp that never got off the ground in 2021. He, like so many other players at all clubs were disadvantaged by lack of opportunities.

You have bagged Matho and CEY but the nature of list management is conservatism. Both these fellas have actually shown something in the past and are at least, good solid depth. I have absolutely no idea how you can justify a claim that Joyce "is already a better onballer than Matho right now" or that neither he or CEY will add anything to our future premiership "window"

My own view is that, over the years ,the club has pretty much got their list management decisions spot on.

There haven't been many players let go, traded or de-listed that I can remember since 1997 that have turned out to be stars of the competition or come back to haunt us as "oh no what have we done" facepalms.

Headland, Cupido, Sherman, Brennan, Karnezis, Aish, Longer, Schache, Molloy, ,Rischitelli, are a few names that walked or were traded that didn't play to the level that they did when they were Lions players. Or at least, didn't exceed their reputations

Elliott Yeo is one we would like to have back but when the player ups and offs because he wants to be with his mates back in Perth, there's not a lot can be done.

There is also Docherty who walked to Carlton but who has been plagued by injury.

I'll back the club in with their list management decisions or at least until such time as they are proven grossly incorrect
