Anyone want to bet against me? I reckon jumper #10 will not be handed out this year; saved for Levi Ashcroft (unless Will claims it) in 2025.

First time in clubs history that the club hasn’t announced jumper numbers for the following year pre Xmas. Not sure what’s on with the media department with the lack of announcements.

No doubt if it was the women’s team the club would be all over it; seems that is where the clubs focus is these days. Check out YouTube, countless videos of the AFLW B&F and not one video from the men’s. Seems really weird where the clubs focus is these days because it certainly ain’t the men.

the women just won a flag, played more recently than the men and get much less coverage from journalists / media outside of the club than the mens do.

i also think its a bit unfair to treat this like a zero sum game where the mens coverage is suffering due to the women receiving greater attention

I don’t. When have we never not heard what the new jumper numbers are or an in depth analysis about our new recruits well before Xmas. Also check out the B&F coverage on our YouTube channel. There is nothing yet it’s filled with women’s stuff. Clearly the women are being prioritised over the men for whatever reason and you can’t say they aren’t because the socials speak for themselves.

When it was Grand final week we got ample media coverage. The women just won a GF and now it is their turn. It's not like there is a lot to write about in terms of the mens game compared to the womens anyway. I would much prefer their being more media for the mens Lions as l don't follow to women's, but they are obviously cutting costs and the media department is probably where it is at.

Not sure how far in advance they would plan things, but there were several roles in the Media department advertised (and I assume filled) since the end of the boys season. Could be new people getting to grips with the Lions media cycle/putting their own spin on it?

Just a guess.
