Toumpus' hip feared to be as bad as James Moss' if not worse. Will struggle to walk again. Toumpus King hit in wheel chair outside popular Adelaide Nightclub night of release from operation. Toumpus refuses to be interviewed by anyone at draft camp, Toumpus states in the Advertiser he is unsure if AFL is his go preferring WWT and his current job delivering Pizzas. That should Jack Darling him enough...

Although Jack Darling was caught consuming Alcohol on a school camp and entertaining ladies in his tent at an all boys school camp. Sounds like a boss to me, maybe sign Jimmy Toumpus up to some cult or Scientology group. Circulate photos of him at swinger parties, smoking Crack with Ben Cousins between bets at the TAB with Fev and One on One Boxing session with Barry Hall

Emma Quayle concurs it's a good draft but not a super draft. She rates Whitfield as the best prospect with a gap to Toumpas, Wines and Menzel. Vlastuin, O'Rourke, Garlett (apparent discipline problems though) and Stringer are right up there too.

Good but not quite a super draft

The feeling among recruiters now is that the coming draft hovers somewhere between ''normal'' and ''pretty good,' but that it is not one with the potential to solve everyone's problem in one hit. One club has a list of 20 players it would happily choose. Another has closer to 30, and that's about standard for this time of year.

Good but not quite a super draft

^^^^ You didn't link properly Ford.

I've been watching the U/18 championships. Stringer is still my most wanted. Dude's a monster, but can easily play midfield. Joe Daniher is going to absolutely beast in the AFL, Essendon will be so goddamn rapt.

But I don't think we'll take Stringer, even though he'll be there at our pick, which is a shame for mine. Beyond that, I don't know who I like more out of Toumpas and Mayes. I think Toumpas probably fits what we need more, but I think Mayes will be the better player overall.

Oliver Wines does look pretty good though, and O'Rourke's game for Vic Metro yesterday was insane!

What really sucks is, were still getting affected by the new clubs 'concessions'. The 'scully' compensation pick is probably going to be used by melbourne to get Toumpas. BOO!!!

The ideal first 2 picks for us would be Toumpas & Colquhoun - 2 players who i reckon can play from round 1 next year, very quick and great thinkers with the pill in hands.

Oh, another player I forgot about was Marco Papperone. I really like the look of him. If he somehow slid to our second pick, I'd be stoked. He reminds me of a Jared Brennan with less x-factor but wayyy more consistency. Ability to play forward and midfield and has nice speed for a guy of his size.

While true, its the same lesson Schulzy had to learn. We have the ideal rolemodel for Connors.

I'd say Connors would need to take the Pfeiffer path to redemption. Spend a year in the SANFL/VFL/etc, prove your worth, earn a rookie or senior spot and an AFL club.

Schulz only made one mistake IIRC. Connors is averaging one mistake a year over the last 3 years. Plus he's not that good anyway (although neither was Schulz).

we almost never draft from outside the power states. maybe the occasional nt boy but thats about it. i reckon there is a reason for that too. they just arent playing against any decent opposition. on thurlow apparently alot of his numbers were just floating around behind play. a receiver.

very good to hear emma mention wines up there amongst the top names. i was hoping he wouldnt be a reach for our selection so that if toumpas goes early we have another pure mid for consideration before we look at other options.

its not that i want wines as an inside mid so much, in fact i think if anything the inside mid for us is fairly well stocked i think running/ footskills is what we really need but just think that an upgrade to our mid stocks is absolutely essential no matter what, and if toumpas is gone ild rather a very good consistant ball winning mid rather than a great flanker.

thinking about it i reckon primus and co will be red hot on 2 things. footskills, and speed. i think that might push mayes and gartlett up behind toumps on our order.

in fact, if there was a betting market surely the money would be on port taking the highly rated local flanker come midfielder at 187cms with great footskills and a dash of speed? (mayes)

to be honest i only have one nightmare scenario where we take who i think is one of the most talented kids in the draft. the one guy we cannot afford to take with our list.

With any common sense, we're bound to pick up a quality player at pick #6-8. That's of course considering we don't pull one from far left-centre.
