This was taken from Roos_Fanatic 2012 mock draft

Sam Mayes (187cm mid/fwd)

Best kick in the draft in my opinion. Beautiful kick over distance and he measures his kicks perfectly. Works hard as a lead up forward but provides a strong option as outside midfielder. He has elite pace and excellent side step.

i just think that this player fits our needs perfectly. I want!

Yeah, if we can't get Toumpas, Mayes is my number one (well Stringer is, but we won't take him). I think he'll end up being better than Toumpas, but he is more of a risk of becoming a Cale Morton, which is why he won't go as high. Not saying he will become a Morton, low probability of that, just saying he's still more a based on potential player than Toumpas.

Mayes plays with flair in a way that steve johnson does. I dont think you could ever say anything like that about Morton.

I also wouldnt mind getting Oliver wines. If we get a PP, which we should but we wont, and we get him and mayes, i will be one happy camper

Past 3 years for PAFC:
2010 - bottom half finish - Gold Coast compromised draft
2011 - virtually bottom finish - GWS compromised draft
2012 - near bottom finish - GWS/GC pick 1/2, WB and Melbourne activating both their 1st round compensation picks

In the same vein ~ 7 years ago Carlton over a 3 year period received
2005 Marc Murphy
2006 Bryce Gibbs
2007 Kreuzer

Let's review the criteria:
Sustained crappiness - tick
Applied football socialism - N/A, PAFC does not qualify ie is not a Victorian team

I reckon we would have a chance at picking up Stringer - Problem is we are getting burnt picking up injury prone players in the last few years and picking Stringer could be either a bargain or...... a frikin disaster!! can we afford that risk??

5 when it didn't matter but yes, you are correct

Well it does matter as games won is the major driver for ladder position and drsft picks.

I guarantee that if 2011/12 had been good for us our recollection of 2010 would now be of a season where we finished one game and percentage out the 8. Rather than the assertion we finished near the bottom which was made earlier. We were a mid table side and didnt deserve early picks.

It was a shit year no doubt but relative to other sides we were mid pack. Also no doubt weve been screwed over last year.

I agree, my comment was more towards that the reason we forget that 2010 wasn't so bad was that we won half our games in the ass end of the season when we'd basically (maybe not quite mathematically) been written off for finals. So in a sense they didn't matter.

Call me crazy, but I've seen Daniel Stewart do some things along the journey that indicate to me he could be of some value to us. We need a KPF and, yes, I know he's no Carey, but I have interest.
If anyone was of a mind to give some feedback as to whether he's luggage or someone, sincerely, that you'd think could go OK I'd greatly appreciate it. I understand he has workrate issues, and defenders seem to zone off him pretty comfortably, but I reckon he's worth a second chance
Would I be wrong to say he is a delist candidate and so would be helped to find another club, or would you think he has currency that would require some negotiations to take place?
Cheers

Certainly would be able to be discussed at the trade table.

If Jacobs want to head back east I wonder if a straight swap for Levi is plausible?

If the Tigers wanted him it would be a fast deal to make, he'd go cheaply.

I'd be fairly confident:cool: Port could work a trade for D.Stewart:D. If there's anywhere I'd love for him to have a second chance, it'd be at Richmond. Like every other player we've traded to you, things have certainly worked out.:thumbsu:

I reckon Jacobs will come back to bite us in more ways than one.

- Wasting Pick 16 on him (not because he doesn't have the talent, but because we're going to lose him)
- Playing him as a shutdown defender, when anyone can see he's not, making him unhappy here.
- We won't get much value for him.
- I think he'll shine elsewhere.

Reading through the last few pages... what would really piss me off is if Surj isnt on our list next year and we pick up Russel to replace him....
Would MUCH rather play Surj and Pittard.

Delist
- Hitchcock
- Logan
- Phillips
- Rodan
Trade / Delist
- Salopek (hate to see him go!)
- Thomas

Id chaplin Leaves keep Salter, If he stays Axe Salts :(

Rookies
Delist
Butch
Webb

Re-rookie
Irons (wishful thinking i guess)
Curnow (no pint putting so much time into a big man to axe him now)

7 Changes to main list, 2 to rookie list

Kept a few iffy ones purely as depth

Sheesh. Any chance you can give me some considered feedback as to whether he's useless without hope or whether he could be OK? I'm not asking if he's Carey here, just your thoughts on whether he's a donkey who you can;t wait to delist or whether you'd have a shred of expectation he could do "well" elsewhere?

I reckon with a bit of pressure on his career somewhere else he could be alright.

Good mark, and usually a good kick.

Never going to set the world on fire, but could be alright. Just don't think it would be at Port.
