Sheesh. Any chance you can give me some considered feedback as to whether he's useless without hope or whether he could be OK? I'm not asking if he's Carey here, just your thoughts on whether he's a donkey who you can;t wait to delist or whether you'd have a shred of expectation he could do "well" elsewhere?

Usually takes 1 good mark and kicks 1 goal per game. Rest of the time you'll hardly notice he's on the park. Has the tools needed to succeed but lacks drive. A change of environment may help him. A team desperate for KPPs could do worse than take a gamble on him, but it'll probably be for nought.

Yep, fair enough. Sorry about that. I don't believe Stewart has what it takes to make it at AFL level. When he takes marks, he looks good, but he just doesn't take them often enough. There's a perception he's a good kick, but I reckon his conversion would be lower than initial thoughts.

The biggest issue of all though, in my opinion, is that he doesn't understand how to be a key forward. He either leads at the wrong time or not at all.

In short, he's not a KPF you can build a forward line around and because you can't trust him to compete, he's not even a player that can successfully compliment a team's "go to" KPF.

Call me crazy, but I've seen Daniel Stewart do some things along the journey that indicate to me he could be of some value to us. We need a KPF and, yes, I know he's no Carey, but I have interest.

No Wayne Carey? He's not even Justin Westhoff.

He's a soft, lazy joke of a player with unreliable hands and an unreliable kick. Will take one good contested mark on the wing per game and will do nothing else for the rest of it. The amount of times he goes up for marks one-handed (on the rare occasion that he can be bothered to lead) is utterly ridiculous. You're honestly better off with McGuane.

Now that would be a good pick up. Has a hell of a lot of potential as a HFF/rotating mid. Pretty much everyone on this board is utterly confused at the crap treatment he's been given by the club this year.

Personally I hope we bring in a new coach with half a brain and he wants to keep him.

No, I hate it. That's why I disagree with delisting two of our top 10 players in Pearce and Surjan while retaining talentless spuds like Thomas and Logan who more than any other players on the list are indicative of the current 'it doesn't matter how shit you are at football as long as you work hard' mentality that has gotten us into this mess. If I loved being down the bottom of the ladder I'd be totally in favour of your post.

Bold underlined - what is this I don't even know where to begin. Insanity.
Bold - unfortunately you might be right with Banner, but god I hope not. Almost half the list could be delisted before these two.
Italics - harsh, McCarthy was excellent in the first three rounds or so, kicking is a worry, but he's worth persisting with for another year. Pfeiffer, unlike most of our team has actually improved as the season has gone on, for some reason the coaches rewarded this improvement with being dropped multiple times.
The rest - fair enough.

Also, you are advocating trading for "hard, sizable player with experience", but want Surjan, Pfieffer and to a lesser extent McCarthy delisted. Other players on our list that could be considered "hard, sizable with experience" include Tom Logan, Dom Cassisi and Matt Thomas.

I can't help but feel that he is a lot like Thomson and Farmer though. Both of whom probably deserved more of a go and from the outside seemed harshly done by but in the end just weren't quite up to it (and I was a big Farmer fan).
