Who were the SA captains in 2008, 2009 and 2010? How do we get them?

2007 - Bradley Ebert (Port Adelaide/West Coast)

2009 - Jack Trengove (Sturt/Melbourne)
2010 - Brodie Smith (Woodville West-Torrens/Adelaide) Seb Tape?

2008 - No idea. I wish it was Hartlett
2009 - Jack Trengove (Melbourne)
2010 - Brodie Smith (Adelaide)

We can leave that one out. Such a generic, nothing player. Fits in well at the Crowbots. Having pick 16 instead of 14 would've been a blessing in disguise if we'd used it on Atley, but we had to go and screw that up

2008 - Scott Blesing. I am tipping he is available if we want him :)

It is great that e are getting a few on field leaders in though. Shame we missed Brodie :(

Does anyone know if he was good enough for AFL before getting sick?

Young Gun: Scott Blesing

But after missing part of the National under-18 Championships with illness, Blesing, who was captain of the SA side, fell of the radar of AFL clubs and missed out on being drafted.
``Getting drafted was my goal right from when I was a young fella,’’ Blesing said.
``During the (under-18 state) carnival I got sick which slowed me down a bit.
``But I was happy with the way I ended the year. I got a League game and finished off the season well in the Reserves so it wasn’t all doom and gloom.’‘

I remember this time last year. We were all fretting that by beating the Demons we'd ruined our chances at snaring a clear top 3 prospect and the best junior to come out of South Australia in years, who was now going interstate :(

And then Wingard fell to pick 6 :)

It seems to me that this is a draft where the top 10 pick we have needs to be a little bit more than just "best available". If we have a choice between pure inside mid, outside mid and inside-outside mid, then I would very much look at issues of (1) proven leadership and reliability to stand up in tough matches, (2) decision making and (3) kicking skills and ability to impact on scoreboard.

Assuming Boak signs, what our midfield/running brigade needs as a priority are hurt factor, footskills, speed and line breaking.

Three lads that went well at the AFL combine in the United States;

Cliff Ederaine (22) 200cm's 93kg's
Frank Ben-Eze (23) 208cm's 108kg's
Darrel Acrey (23) 185cm's 110kg's

All with great explosiveness and speed. Could be CHF, CHB and Ruck Rover with all three picks. All early 20's but as professional athletes and with minimal physical impact on bodies could see them play till mid 30's.

I still say get as much for Chaplin as we can or play hardball, key defenders don't grow on trees. Shop Matt Thomas, John McCarthy and Brett Ebert about and as unfortunate as it is Sal is shown the door with Philips, Hitchcock and Salter. Logan isn't spared, Banner holds on (Salter and Hitchcock speculitive)

If we multiple picks inside 15, Kennedy or Garlett become serious options otherwise Mayers/Wines. If we have a 12-20 selection Shaw/O'Rouke become serious options, if we get a good mid or two in the first round McDonough becomes our second round selection, is the fat arsed, strong, skilled player we desperately need (Paul Chapman/Jobe Watson/Uninjured Jason Porplycia/Dane Beams/Simon Black) following these selections it becomes a bit speculative. Really like Dom Barry/Tim Broomhead. Then fourth rounder Rikawasikka(sp?) fifth rounder mature KPB and Sixth rounder Hoskin/Marvin.Warrell/Louis Egger. Look at taking one or two of the Americans as rookies and cut Curnow free...

I'm still crazy about thinking how Wingard falling to us was some part of the Brogan/Chad arrangement

He is better than Buntine and Willk Hoksin Elliot

Don't try to sell me that GWS knew they were going to get Jed Anderson who is a similar type of player this year because Wingard is a class above him too. Toumpas i don't see we can grab. i would get my fireworks and head down to Alberton if it happened but i can't see it happening with pick 7

It scares the shite out of me that we might go after Kosi as he is an unrestricted free agent, I'm not a religious man but please god, Noooooo:eek:
