Russell is pushing 190cm GP... But I know what you're saying.

Anybody who comes runner up to Judd in a B&F can play... Just needs to sort himself out. At the very least, he's a bloke who carries the footy and hits targets....something we're craving at the minute.

I hope someone else gets Russell. Slow, soft, panics, can't dispose under any pressure. meh. He's meant to be a nice guy who trains hard.

Wow, its almost like he's been at Port the whole time!

I could come runner up to Judd if it was just me, him, and 25 quadruple amputees.

I think we should be trying to get Russell, Thornton and Bower if he gets delisted. A bit of pressure on the defenders at the selection table is exactly what we need

Have you seen Carlton's key defender stocks? If Thornton and Bower can't get a game in that defence with Jamison and Henderson spending a fair bit of time on the injury list this year, then they shouldn't get a game anywhere.

My problem isn't necessarily his ability (although that 2nd place in the B&F was a long time ago and that form has long disappeared), it's just that if I was compiling a list of our needs right now, 'stopping small/medium defender' would be at the very bottom.

In my opinion his disposal would be in the top 10% of our list if he came to Port and for no other reason we should be after him. I can't work out why he's not getting more games at Carlton

Because your first sentence is wrong. His disposal is average at best.

Arent we talking to the former Carlton coach for the position at PAFC ? He may not rate them

You could conversely say that these guys are leaving after Ratten got sacked, although I do see your point.
I would think that if Ratten sees an assistant role at gws as good a job as head coach at port he shouldn't be considered.

This I dont disagree with. But he would still improve our side. And if he comes cheap, I'm all for it.

He'd improve the side we played for most of this year, but I'm not sure he'd improve our actual best 22. Replacing Cassisi or Logan with Russell would improve us, but IMO those guys should be replaced whether we get Russell or not. Would replacing Surjan, Jonas, Pittard, Pearce etc. with Russell really make us any better?

I'd like to see Russell on a wing. Hes tall, got pace to burn, can deliver the ball well. Put him on a wing.

you misplaced a couple of words, iphone? i fixed it for you.

nah in all seriousness he isnt that bad but is known mostly for being flaky. if you said what is the trait we least need ild have flaky just ahead of off his nuts psycho baby killer. maybe he turns it around with us and that would be great. eh.

i have to say that if chaplin does leave wouldnt it be via a trade???

isnt restricted fa designed to stop teams from losing players they dont want to but give an encouragement to trade???

we dont have to let him go. the afl seem to back my statement by saying that fa compo is going to be nothing like the expan compo's. its an avenue for players outside that top 25% to move freely and an encouragement to trade those that are.

all it does is mean that they expect to see less cases of players trying to get through to a team in the psd because more will be moving in fa/ trades.

it would have some impact on what you could ask for a player though ild reckon.

if chappy did decide richmond is the go then ild expect us to do a trade. we have the cap no doubt to force the issue, and would be with-in the rules to do so. since getting a fa seems very likely we dont gain anything by losing chappy in fa, and even if we did we wouldnt bet on it being anything good.

richmond would deal and avoid pushing up chappy's price if they did get him or forcing us to overpay and have bad blood especially when they have someone available for fa.

if the pat macarthy rumours are true then we could be chasing him with designs on richmond sending him to us?

the one big thing that worries me is the differences between fa and expan compo.

the afl have said the fa picks will be worth alot less than the expan compo. we have no idea really until we see them.

my question...

what if gws take one of our players and claim him as a free agent?? can they do that??

but then, i guess if they spoke to pearce and said it was fa then we can match, but i reckon gws has massive massive amounts still in their cap as they are still half a dozen players short of what they were allowed to list in their first couple of years.

they could be very strategic about it in a manipulative way if they like. take a guy as a fa and know they dont move back in the first round order in the future. or, they suggest they would take him as fa, then suggest they would take him as expan compo as part of a deal where they trade us a pick for that expan compo. its all shit that shouldnt have been left open to be manipulated in the way it can be.

if there is one thing business has taught us it is that there is no such thing as ethics in that world.

there is only illegal, and not illegal. if its not illegal, there is only one more question, do we benefit from it. thats why you cover your bases and angles. the idiots at afl house, my god, they have left holes everywhere.

pettigrew Mach II

Pettigrew's 2007 was excellent. The guy lost the passion for the game straight after that, he could definitely play, was a quick rebounding defender. We do not have a rebounding defender now :( (at least not a defender who can defend AND rebound.)

- Coerce a good outside receiver/accumulator into retirement? Check.
- Delist a hard creative inside-midfielder who is younger than Logan, Harding, Nash, Thomas? Check.
- Delist our best defensive linebreaker? Check.
- Convert a moneyball tall forward into a superfluous defender? Check.
- Delist our most technically-gifted player? Check.

Michael Coad, Hayden Jolly and Andrew McQualter, join Josh Fraser in playing their last game for the suns according to Gold Coast facebook page

Keen.

Jolly informed Gold Coast he was seeking a new club at his end of season review. He will now be available as a delisted free agent. He can just sign on the dotted line. No compo for GC. Logical destination PA. Keen.

He will only be available as a delisted free agent if GC delist him. If he decides to go and they want to keep him then he will either have to go into the PSD or be traded.
