Whats this urgent need for inside midfielders clap trap? We need outside midfielders, not inside ones.

Perception trails reality by about 4 years here...

Yeah it's absolutely ridiculous.

Our only genuine quality outside mid is apparently off to GWS but let's ignore that get a few more tough extracting nuggets in there.

FFS.

Do these people even watch us play?

You reckon?

Our contested ball as a percentage of total possession is up there with the best. Our clearance rate, considering we were playing to losing rucks pretty much all year was good enough.

Pretty sure we were bottom in disposal efficiency and 3rd bottom in inside 50s. I think with Broady, Boak, Brad, Moore we have a good core group of stoppage midfielders for the future who can all play a bit outside but we sorely lack players who can hit targets all over the field

Broady, Wingard, Hartlett and pearce (probs gone) all have a quality outside game

I think speed is our main issue. Toumpas, Mayes and o'rourke are the quick, all round midfielders we should be targeting

Exactly. We have some players who can kick the ball, no doubt, but we only have one player who can find space on the outside, burn off an opponent and kick the ball 60m into the forward 50.

And he's apparently going to GWS.

We need 3 or 4 Danyle Pearces, not none.

I want Hayden Jolly because I think he's talented and if we can get him for cheap, why the hell not.

But I definitely agree that we need speedy, skilled mids. At least two. Broady is quicker than he seems and he's definitely the guy to give the ball to when extracting from a pack, but he's not really the guy to burn off an opponent or find much space himself. Mayes can be that guy. Hopefully we get Mayes.

Don't rate Mayes, don't want him at 7

We need both. We have inside midfielders, but most of them are spuds who need to be replaced with better ones.

Yep I would be very happy with Jolly.

Wanted him last year, and would be happy paying sweet f'all for him.

Get him with one of our later picks in the draft if possible, reckon he has what it takes and just needs to be home.

Good ol' Brighton lad.

Jetta at the Swans highlights the importance of these players, if coached corectly

Mayers has grown rapidly on me. Would be happy with him or Garlett at 7, Seriouisly want McDonough the up side in that kid is equal to annyone's in this draft pool. We need another ouitside mid and a key forward. We need to aquire another pick or two inn the first round

Jetta playing the same role he plays at the swans would markedly improve us as a side. Hopefully we can find something similar in the draft.

lol........he'd be our lead up CHF or go to KPF going by our current history.

Why cant we simply get Pearce to 'play the same role'?

Pearce does play a similar role.

The problem is Pearce is probably our most important player in terms of launching attacks. He's our only pacy line breaker with decent skills. Teams know this so they hard tag him week in week out and he deals with it 1000 times better than Shaun did in the same situation.

Good teams have several players who can break lines and deliver the ball because you can't tag 3 or 4 guys effectively. Our first pick this year should be a genuinely fast midfielder who can deliver the ball.
