A rumour on the D&T board has John Butcher trying to convince Koby Stevens to come to Port.

Old mates from junior days?

I really hope its true on two fronts.

1. it would be great to get Koby (for the right price).

2. It means Butcher sees himself as a Port boy and wants to get his mates here.

He's being mentioned as looking for more opportunities.

I dont know about Koby Stevens. He had this pre season to cement himself in WCs lineup and he stuffed it up big time. I dont think hes anywhere near as good as his supposed rating suggests.

I think they told Melbourne something along the lines of Melbourne wouldn't be receiving anything....and hinted that nobody else would either.

Yeah but their reasoning for not giving anybody anything was totally ridiculous.

I maintain that if we don't get one this season, nobody will ever qualify for one ever.

I'd also be super pissed if we missed one because we drew with Richmond in round 22. The whole idea of making the formula secret was to stop people tanking late games and still giving it our all in round 23 shouldn't count against us.

If anything, the formula should only take into account games played when teams are still in the running for finals.

Having watched a fair bit of Koby at WAFL level this year i honestly believe he could be one onf the better clearance players in the afl in a few years. His problem at the eagles isn't so much his own form but the form of Kerr, Priddis, Selwood and Shuey. Like Ebert, Stevens will thrive given a regular start in the midfield, and his disposal by foot is suprisingly good for an inside player.

Do not want Scott Lycett to be part of any deal. There really is no point delisting/trading D. Stewart to pick up Lycett.

Scott Lycett playes the exact same role as Stewart, at afl and wafl level, he is a tall forward who pinch hits in the ruck. He doesn't take many contested marks either. Even if Lycett was a pure ruckman why would we trade for another developling ruck prospect in that age bracket. I would agree Lycett has more upside then Stewart, but he really stagnated or possibly regressed in his development this year.

WALF level Lycett rucks a goood 60%+ of the time, at AFL level he isn't going to kick Nic Nat or Cox out of the RUck (both AA ruckman, if was pitching to him this would be my main point)

Or Brad Miller. Means we get Pia, who is not only easier on the eye than Matt Thomas but who is probably a better decision-maker with better skills.
