I would have thought that Pfeiffer has been one of our more determined and consistent players since the Kangaroos win. While he often looks rushed and untidy with his disposal, he at least takes the game on through the corridor and makes far fewer scared, careful mistakes that result in turnover goals, than McCarthy, Logan and Thomas.

For the rest of this year, I'd like to persevere with Pfeiffer and Jonas in defence and hopefully, Pittard and Surjan.

Speaking of drafting, am I alone in my anger and frustration as I watch GWS run around in their AFL funded, purpose built stadium with a stack of the very best talent in the country that was also gifted to them while we play in a stadium devoid of facilities where the SANFL bleed us to the point of extinction with the likelihood that our playing group will continue to struggle and somehow still manage to avoid any sort of draft assistance?

Pfeiffer runs hard but if you look at yesterdays game closely, you'll notice that he is a "ball watcher" without any real sense of where he is, where his opponent and other opposition players and team mates are and he does not seem to realise that shepherding for your team mates is as important as getting into position to receive the ball.

I'm afraid that although he runs hard to get to contests, he is drawn to the ball like a moth to a flame and lacks the basic awareness that you must have to be a league footballer. I think this is the main reason, plus the fact that his skills are iffy, that he has been let go by two other AFL clubs.

I feel that he is not a player that can be part of a successful Port side in the future and as such, we should not persevere with him.

Hey guys,

Reckon Levi Greenwood would probably benifit a return home, and think he'd be a good fit at Port.

Form dipped slightly this year, but was getting pushed out by the likes of Ziebell, Bastinac, Atley and Cunnington, and struggling to get back in.

Big tank, hard as a cats head, and can find the footy, would be reluctant to let him go, but would also be crap watching a guy that bleeds for the jumper only gettting a chance every time we have a midfielder out.

Thoughts?

I like Greenwood but he's exactly the type of player we don't need anymore of. Happy to take Atley off your hands though :(

When we delist the utter crap variants we have, we'll need one.

I haven't seen a lot of him if anything, but get the impression he might be that strong bodied defensive mid type ?

Yeah.

Big call, but he's the closest thing to another Michael Wilson that we would have some chance of getting.

Yep big fan of Levi's. What would you want in return?

A second rounder is probably fair, especially if you are getting extra picks from a potential Boak trade.

Look at the trade in isolation. A potential Boak trade should have absolutely no bearing on any hypothetical deal for Greenwood unless they are part of the same trade. Which they won't be.

It won't have any bearing on a potential price, but it would have a bearing on your willingness to part with a pick, was all I meant.

Ah ok. Apologies. If we value Greenwood as second rounder, we'll have no hesitation in using it to trade him in, even if we don't do any other trades in trade week.

Wouldn't give up an early second rounder for him, but a mid-late second is far fairer.

Sounds about right to me. Our second rounder will be reasonably high in a strongish draft (27 at this stage).

Though by the time the concessions picks come in (plus any for this years GWS crop) it could be a bit lower I guess.

He is not a pressing need for us but he has shown he can rack up impressive numbers and if he really wants to be here ala Ebert then he would be a good pick up.

In fact the Ebert trade is an interesting comparison. We got him for pick 28 and I think most would have rated him higher than Greenwood being a first round draft pick and former SA Captain.

I don't like drafting players that are already a big strong size. I know it sounds crazy considering our lot of string beans but reason is that guys that are bigger now may be playing better cos they are physically advanced, but once the rest catch up in early 20's can bd found out a bit. I put rich into that category, greenwood would be another
All the recruiters said the same about Nathan Jones. It played a huge role on his recruitment placement.
The theory is wrong. I buy and race alot of horses to and you wont see me putting my hand up for a developing skinny under developed work in progress. Guys with young athletic bigger builds are so because they have already done the work. They are conditioned. Nathan Batsanis has had the ball on a string all year in a very strong VFL comp. He will get another chance at years end, definately one that got away.

After closely watching the WA boys in the championship, It became obvious to me that Hogan would be a massive pick for any club in the mini draft! monster of a boy and can play.
Is there any other players in the WAFL that didnt get a run in the State championships that could catch the eye of recruiters and possibly get picked up?
I have my own thoughts but was wondering what others thought :)
