That one guy, he speaks not for the rest of us.
You should know that BF posting rules are that when a poster makes a statement it means; us, them, the Richmond BF board and the RFC agree with and endorse the comment.:D

what are peoples thoughts on menzel?
A write up this morning said he could slip till the 30s due to injurys and maybe injury prone.
Could be a high risk but a very high reward also. was tipped, on talent, to go top 5 to 10
sounds like similar risk that we took on trengove

Has Thomas ever had a full preseason? I also think that many are way too harsh on him. Yes his disposal stinks but imo he's the best of the 'try hard trio' (thomas, logan, pfeiffer)

i reckon odds are if chappy wants off to richmond we would look at their two 2nd round picks ( pick #29 and pick 31) for chappy and thomas. not really a win for those players but not a huge loss either. i dont believe we would be likely to receive any compo if we let chappy walk if we are to bring in a free agent. considering chappy is on good coin and 26/27 we would likely get an end of first round compo for him at a guess which would be pick 23. if we would prefer not to match and receive that compo we would have to either

a) not take any fa
b) trade for fa
c) possibly take them in psd if that is possible

option c would be entirely possible that we could get a guy like russell through to us in the psd but it does weaken your recruitment spiel considerably trying to convince a guy to come to you and not someone else then tell them to come through psd rather than as a fa. i dont see it happening really (not that i would cry if we didnt get russell lol).

his disposal is not the issue. It's his inability to find the ball

Both are the issue. We have a 25 year old, 83 game mid/HFF on our list who doesn't get the ball and doesn't use it well (and doesn't kick goals, and can't tag, and regularly gives away stupid free kicks). I doubt there's another club in the competition who can say that.

Pick 4 to Melbourne is a compensation pick, it doesn't count with the Viney nom. Father/son noms get made before the trade period I believe, so if GWS / GC don't nominate Viney, Melbourne can use their second round pick (in the 20s, skipping their mid-first round compensation pick at ~11ish?) on Viney.

His disposal isnt great. But I think its better than Cassisi's and Logan's. I know im not settin the bar very high

If he averaged 25 possessions a game (which will never happen), we would forget about his kicking and would be regarded as a decent in and under player.

Wait, Whitfield at 4? If we somehow got a PP and pick 1, then we'd definitely take Whitfield and we'd be fools not to.

The most I can see PP style is us getting one after our current pick, so picks 7 & 8. If that happened, I hope we'd take the risk on Stringer.

I've only seen the Championship games and I wasn't impressed by Whittfield. Also reports out of TAC are that he's struggling ATM. Viney is the hard in and under we really need. He's hard and all class and if we were given a pick before Melbourne I'd nominate for him. Toumpas and Grundy also fit in before Whittfield for me.

I had doubts on Mayes' ability to get a lot of the ball at the carnival but his numbers for North, a bog late in the season and a good finals performance have seen him rocket up my wish list. Wines is a poor mans Viney but may be best left at 7. Reports on Stringer is that he's getting better each game and his rare body type and abilities would be very hard to pass on at 7.

And I disagree with those who guess that GWS will get picks 2 and 3 from the mini draft. Martin would go at about picks 4-6, while Hogan would be about pick 6-10. Some 17 year olds don't come on as you'd hope. GC may think they can get Whittfield and if not him Toumpas at 2 so why would they give 2 for Martin? They need players more like Viney and Toumpas than Martin. And it's no certainty Melbourne will enter the mini draft, especially if they have to take Viney at 3. And neither Neeld nor McCartney can afford another poor year next year. They have just watched Primus lose his job after 2 underperforming years. It may not be the year for Melbourne or WB to start banking 17 year olds they can't play, just to help the coach that replaces them.

Pick 7 could be the highest one GWS can get for a mini draft pick this year.

What happens if the Gold Coast offer Pick 2 for Tippett?

- Excessively overpaid.
- Excessively underperforming.
- Getting on for a prime key forward (will be 26 next May).
- Accumulative concussion issues.

I'm not sure even Gerard Neesham would go for that.

Tippett in current form is a mid 20s pick. On potential he's about 10 IMO.

It would give the 'Tiser reason to mention the Groom/McLeod trade, again.

**** off Richmond.
Sure, if we are going to bend Richmond over again ala the Thompson trade, I don't think even I would be unhappy. Otherwise, Richmond can go and get ****ed.

Matt doesn't perform to his potential in nearly any of his games, which is a massive problem for him. He still has a decent impact on most games though, and he is one of our only players who can win the inside ball, take a tackle and dish it off, he is also fantastic overhead for a short guy. However, his decision making can be very poor, he has an inconsistent disposal (its good most of the time, but sometimes he tries to do something too hard and messes up), and is a horrible shot at goal. Basically, he is inconsistent.

Despite his faults I still believe he is important to the future of this club, not because he will be our best player (he won't, ever) but because at worst he will turn up every week and do his job, and at best he will be a very good player.
If Richmond get him cheap, they could end up extremely happy.

Every player and his dog are being linked to Richmond at the moment (Tyson, Thomas, Chaplin, Banner, Knights, Shiel...), they said they would explore what FA could do for them and this basically gives every player manager the opportunity to leak stuff like this in order to get a better deal at their club.

No doubt they will get one or two (most likely from what I have heard on here is Chaplin and Knights), but there will be hundreds of rumours about them this off season.
