Meh, I don’t really give a **** to be honest.. if he’s not good enough I suppose he’s gotta go.. all I’m worried about is jeopardising Luke Edwards F/S if Luke turns out being a top 10 potential gun.. but if people here think it won’t put it in jeopardy then so be it..

Also those saying we’ve gotta be ruthless.. I’m with ya... see ya Otten, Hunter, Signorello too.

and I wish we could somehow backflip on lynch and tell him we want to trade him now. And somehow get rid of the list cloggers Douglas and Mackay too?

Why would it? We have rights to bid on Luke and no one else does.

We have full control of that situation, and should we want Luke, we'll have Luke.

Only if Luke accepts our nomination?....I can't see him wanting to chance the possibility of being drafted interstate if he doesn't however.

Me neither, son of a gun, could be the first one to make it etc. Needless to say, that is a very cushy situation.

I would say 11 games in his first year on the list has Murphy being completely safe and not only that, a guarantee to be upgraded to the main list. The rest I agree on, their future hinges on the trade weeks and what happens in September with draftees (seeing finals can create one or two smokies).
His position is definitely safe. The upgrade though, is far from certain. Rookie listed players are now free to play, with no requirement for players to go on the LTI list. They may just decide to leave him on the rookie list for another year, due to salary cap reasons.

We didn't give up anything for them so who cares?

I would agree. Edwards is very surprising seeing he's a first year player unless he really didn't show anything that indicates he can make it/attitude issues or something of that ilk.

Jarman and Dear were just about guaranteed. Neither had any future whatsoever.
Edwards seemed very dedicated to his health, fitness, weight gain and training (based on his instagram/youtube), so I doubt attitude was the problem; unless his dedication to his health/fitness was an obstacle to the football training program?
Most likely too slow? Didn't think his SANFL performances were that bad. I mean Jarman was a lot worse. A lot of clueless Crows fans seem annoyed by this decision, but I honestly don't think any other club would rookie him at year's end. I think he'll go back to SANFL and work on his game there. Who knows, we'll obviously keep tabs on him if he doesn't get drafted, but I think his passion is more in fitness/health than footy itself.

I doubt his dedication to health/fitness would be, however, if that's the case then it may simply be that we didn't see enough in him to be worthwhile to continue. Sucks, but them the breaks.

I can't believe we've delisted both Jarman and Edwards. Both seemed to be getting consistant numbers in the SANFL, Jars seemed to have his name in the best 5 every other week. Surely the both could have got another year on the rookie list? Really suprising. I bet they both end up on lists within a year or so.

That’s because performing at sanfl level means absolutely stuff all in terms of ability and suitability for AFL

It’s as relevant as speaking Italian

"Hey Brett did you realise jackson has a brother who looks to be a gun".

Brett: "Oh shit! Bloody CM, they've erased my brain"

I remember when Jackson was supposedly this can’t miss, elite prospect who was put off by our treatment of Jarman.

Will take Luke with a grain of salt for now

What about Hunter Wilson and Cey. Murphy I guess will get an upgrade. Can rookies still be traded
Hunter will probably remain until we find another ruck. Even then it could be ROB that goes as I'm sure Hunter wont mind being 3rd string

Hunter has been on our rookie list for 3 years. The only options are to delist (and possibly re-draft), or promote him to the senior list. I can't see him being upgraded, so I assume they're hoping to trade him (delisting him if he doesn't find a new home).

I'd say re-rookie is an option.

I just dont see ROB wanting to be pushed back to 3rd position if we trade in someone like Preuss.

If we want to re-rookie, then we have to delist and re-draft. I'm not sure how likely that is.

Hunter will probably be delisted, but I'd say we are keeping our options open - in case we don't land a ruckman we want in the draft/trade period.

There was mention somewhere about Pyke being keen on getting more pace into the side, maybe a victim to an extent of this. Personally I was keen to see what he could do with a second preseason, from what I’d seen of him at SANFL level, as a skinny 18 year old, I thought he was doing okay. Not going to lose any sleep over it.

I doubt it. They've just cleaned out the rookie list. Presumably they think this year's draft is deep enough that there will be decent players still available in the rookie draft.

As for Otten... they said that this was it until after the trading period. I wouldn't bet on Otten surviving the second cull. Maybe.. but probably not.

It’s certainly one of those drafts from an SA perspective where a Laird, Neale, Luke Brown(went undrafted year before he was draft), Porplyzia, even Rutten/Bock/Mattner type might be overlooked due to the flashy high end talent on offer.

Having said that, I wonder if the clubs looking to use the rookie list as more of a “2nd chance saloon” for more mature agers. We’ve certainly been leaning this way lately. Ogilvie tends to be a very good judge of talent, and isn’t afraid to pluck guys earlier than expected. Essentially, if he likes a guy enough, he’ll grab him in the main draft. The young guys left on the draft board by rookie draft, he probably doesn’t think are worth worrying about.

We’d perhaps rather give a mature aged guy a go, who has the added bonus of also strengthening our reserves side significantly.

I reckon he's a fair chance given we've lost Gov and decided Dear's not up to it. Leaves only Keath ahead as backup KPD and his recent games were pretty good. Might depend on whether they plan to give Fog some defensive game time if opportunity arises. That neither Cheney or Otto has been re-signed yet is odd though. I don't see both being delisted and you'd think they'd have stitched up the one they rate higher by now.

Like I said - "maybe".
