I can't believe we've delisted both Jarman and Edwards. Both seemed to be getting consistant numbers in the SANFL, Jars seemed to have his name in the best 5 every other week. Surely the both could have got another year on the rookie list? Really suprising. I bet they both end up on lists within a year or so.
You can get set with me on Jarman and unless Edwards gets with a running coach pronto his chances would be remote.

I'll never work this board out, the club must be more ruthless to succeed...nek minnit They do just that and still we're grumbling.

Totally Agree

Both went as rookies for a reason and obviously have not shown enough

Jar man finished 2017 strongly however has gone backwards this year IMO and even considering all the club faults one area they usually get right is thebuse of the rookie list

If these two players surname wasn’t Jarman or Edwards people wouldn’t even blink an eyelid

Would offer Jackson a gig with the SANFL team. Keep him close to the club for when we draft Luke next year.

I don't disagree with these decisions but it does seem that we only ever seem to be ruthless when it involves young players.

Surprised that Edwards didn’t get another year as I thought he showed some good signs early in the season before getting injured.

I know it’ll never happen, but it’d be great if we could offer players like Jarman & Edwards spots in our top up players list, they’re at least a step up from what we currently use and keeps them in the frame for a second chance at AFL level.
I think both would rather go back to their SANFL club than play in our team to be honest.

You really haven't got a clue, these are not just two ordinary rookies...

Would've thought sacking Burton, Haas, Campo, Clarke, Dmac, Douglas, Jacobs would be considered ruthless, or in my opinion being a competent organisation .
Sacking 2 rookies listed kids regardless of their surname is not a ruthless decision.

Wonder how keen Luke Edwards, and his family, will be to come to the club now...

Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite us in the future..
We drafted him when no one else wanted him. We can't keep people on the list just in case we upset their parents. You're basically putting us in a no-win situation. Craig Kelly's other lad doesn't seem bothered that they didn't draft Jake. People are grown ups about this usually.

I wonder if we will rookie Harry as defensive cover

Probably means Otten gets to go around again.
I doubt it. They've just cleaned out the rookie list. Presumably they think this year's draft is deep enough that there will be decent players still available in the rookie draft.

As for Otten... they said that this was it until after the trading period. I wouldn't bet on Otten surviving the second cull. Maybe.. but probably not.

Well, his options would be to be drafter father/son and stay in Adelaide or risk it in the draft.
So the futures of Cheney, Otten, Signorello, Davis, Hunter, Wilson, Murphy, and CEY hinge on what happens in the trade period.
Thought Hunter and Wilson were going to get the chop. Wonder why Murphy hasn't been offered a contract yet?

The club has always played its card close to the chest. They generally don't delist any player who has the remotest possibility of interest from another club. No use giving them a free hit as a DFA ahead of time, if you think there's even the slimmest chance of getting something back via trade.

Those who are likely to be cut have probably been told already, and have been advised to go seeking new opportunities. If they haven't found new homes by the end of the trade period, then they will be announced in the second cull.

I remember Jarman was in front of me in the line while I was picking up my (free!) AFLX ticket. He didn’t have his player ID with him and the box office didn’t recognise him so he had to call someone to get in.
I almost bought his ticket and was going to say “remember me when you kick 6 in a granny like your dad”.

Guess that’s off the table now.

Why? They know the nature of the game. I doubt this comes as a shock to them, as Jackson would have been receiving regular feedback throughout the season. He would have been told exactly where he stood, long before today's announcement.

Ill take your bet

Absolutely no chance that either will ever play a senior AFL game for premiership points
