Why didn't we play Hunter in that last game against Carlton. We had the game won, why not have a look if you had any intention of keeping him, he was fit wasnt he? We must be looking at several ruck scenarios with him not remaining on the list and only if all of them fall thru will we keep him and he will remain absolute break glass in case of only real bad emergency material.

Hunter will probably be delisted, but I'd say we are keeping our options open - in case we don't land a ruckman we want in the draft/trade period.

Need a mature age Ruck as Sauce is slowing down and we don't know about ROBs progress with his injuries.

Can someone in the know tell me the most prominent options for mature age recruits from outside the AFL lists?

I can see us moving on some players in the trade period and having a crack at some ready to go options from the state leagues.

Kelly has everyone realising that these second tier stuff has some gems :-)

Does Grigg want a second chance - or is he happy just playing out his days at the Legs?

Yeah a shame... would have given the kid another year at least. This better not come back and bite us in the ass. 1 Edwards down, 2 to go.

Or is there a chance we rookie him?

He was already a rookie and we’ve cut him; seems highly unlikely he’ll return.

I thought he showed more than Jarman did in their first years, respectively.

He probably did. Difference is that this year's draft is much stronger than last year's, so there's a greater drive to clean out the list.

Why? Because Jacobs could walk without the assistance of crutches, so naturally, he played.

My suspicion is we'll wait and see what shakes from the DFA tree and what is on offer through the trade period before making a decision on him.

But Edwards was only on the rookie list and we keep being told the top end in this draft is brilliant but there’s not significant depth of talent.

Edwards obviously didn't cut it. End of story. To be delisted after one season is all we need to know.

Well, that’s obvious given we cut him. And we rarely make mistakes around who we cut.

I’m interested to hear about Edwards’ performances this year from regular SANFL watchers.

I don't think we'll ever bow to sentiment again. That's the lesson to be learnt from the Jarman/Edwards delistings. I feel that our Next Generation Academy will ultimately bear more fruit.

I don't disagree with these decisions but it does seem that we only ever seem to be ruthless when it involves young players.
Keeping 2 substandard players on the list because of their surnames is one of the sillier things to want the club to do

They're not AFL players , 18 clubs think the same thing , there are smart footy analysts at each club , it's not hard to see that the decision is correct

From a Victorian perspective, perhaps. Vic Country were particularly shit.

But the SA list is deep. Good news for us, I would think.

The numbers of draftable players may be similar, but the mix of them is probably attractive to us.

Gee glad Bone McDermott is not our list manager . In today’s sunday mail he’s got BCrouch as trade bait. And he’s got Atkins, Kelly, McKay in the “must keep”.

I reckon it feels like he'd really like to see us fail even more so than we have lately.
