#13 + Jake Batchelor (GWS) à Taylor Adams + #53
Robin Nahas + #47 (WBD) à #39
Ben Griffiths + #29 + #53 (STK) à #21 + #38

#21 Dominic Sheed (WA – Mid/Fwd)
Height: 183cm, Weight: 82kg, DOB: 10/03/1995
Recruited from: Subiaco
Style: Simon Black
Player comparison:
Range: 5-25
Profile: For mine the best performed midfielder through the u18 champs and the most complete midfielder in this draft class. Sheed is a high production midfielder with some real class to him. Excellent both inside and outside which is rare for an 18 year old with most either capable at one or the other. He has some real ball winning ability inside the contest but then also a hard running game with his endurance excellent allowing him to also accumulate that outside ball with his running patterns also very good. Sheed is a damaging user of the footy by both hand and foot and has more time to use it than the next player making the correct decisions consistently hitting his targets. To finish off his game he also is excellent when he pushes forward because 1v1 he protects the drop zone like a natural forward and has above average ability overhead with his finishing ability also excellent giving him some potential to rest forward which is a big bonus. The main criticism by some recruiters on Sheed is that he is “one pace” but as a player who rarely gets caught and executes so well under pressure I wouldn’t concern myself with that.

#38 Jarman Impey (VIC – Fwd)
Height: 176cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 09/07/1995
Recruited from: Murray Bushranges
Style: Matthew Stokes (quicker)
Player comparison:
Range: 20-40
Profile: Damaging forward with some weapons at his disposal. Impey has some unique athletic gifts with some real pace and agility on him. In traffic Impey really stands out because he has more time and space than anyone else and can really step through traffic easily and then breakaway. Impey when given time and space also has some real ability to break the lines. He’s also go the typical crumbing skills and the smarts to know where the ball is going, rove at the bottom of the contest and position himself in the right spots every time. What most stands out with Impey is what he does with ball in hand. Impy is also an excellent user of the footy with his footskills particularly damaging. He has the ability to hit the scoreboard and can do so easily when within range. For a small he also has some excellent strength with his ability to mark overhead excellent for a small. As with so many forwards he can go cold as the team goes cold but when he is finding the ball he’ll do damage and make those touches meaningful ones.

#39 Cameron Conlon (VIC – KPF/Ruck)
Height: 197cm, Weight: 90kg, DOB:
Recruited from: Northern Knights
Style: Patrick Ryder (forward version)
Player comparison: Nathan Vardy
Range: 10-50
Profile: Real talent who has shown some immense promise up forward. As a key forward Conlon has the ability to really develop into something at the next level. A super athletic forward who can pinch hit in the ruck as required but he’s a guy you want in the forward half. He’s a major marking threat in the air with his leap and strong hands. He’s also got incredible agility at his size and has rare ability at ground level for his size while also showing some ability on the lead with his pace particularly standing out. He also converts from his set shot opportunities.

#48 Darcy Cameron (WA – Ruck/KPF)
Height: 203cm, Weight: 98kg, DOB: 18/07/1995
Recruited from: Claremont
Style: Dean Cox
Player comparison:
Range: 30-70
Profile: The best ruckman in what is a shallow draft for ruckmen. Cameron is one of the better ruckmen this year because he is not only an effective tap ruckman but because he can present a target up forward and influence games in the front half with his clean hands overhead and ability to take marks as well as convert from those opportunities. Cameron has some size on his frame already which is encouraging and he covers the ground reasonably well for a young tall.

#67 – Ricky Petterd (rookie promotion )

Rookie #1 – Matthew Sully
Club: Geelong – VFL (Vic)
D.O.B.: 15/10/1992
Height: 195cm
Weight: 89kg
Full Back - has performed very well.

Rookie #2
Nick Favretto (SA – Mid)
Height: 188cm, Weight: 88kg, DOB: 19/05/1995
Recruited from: West Adelaide
Style:
Player comparison:
Range:
Profile: Favretto is a tall wingman with some real pace to him and will run all day for you. He is very much an outside receiver but a real accumulator who finds it so easily and does his damage using his pace effectively offensively and has shown the ability to hit the scoreboard.

Rookie #3 – Tom Derickx

Do you think he could actually develop into a good KPD given more game time in the AFL playing that position? I liked the look of him last year when i seen a few of his games.
Nahhhhhhhh ------------ Why would we trade him if that was the case, We realised he is a dud and trying to cut our losses

The next Jay Shultz But only 21 yo - Do you think thats worth your 2nd rounder now

Must say deanbigfooty that is an impressive post and I for one wouldn't be at all disappointed if that was how our off season panned out. In particular I like your best 22 with some minor tweaks I'd move King to the FP, Martin to the HFF and Knights to the bench. As good a servant as Newman has been I reckon he may well be surpassed as a best 22 player heading into next year as we move towards the next step in our development.

What makes you think we'll be able to trade Batchelor, Nahas and Griffiths !? Are you interested in fringe players from WB, StK and GWS??

We would be lucky to get a trade for one of them, nobody would be interested.

13 + steak knives would be ample for Adams, another defender (Batchelor) would appeal to them. He is not a spud as some would have you believe. He is a smart, capable defender who could cap off the Adams deal.

As for Griffiths and Nahas, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs, have been rumoured to be courting them.

It's just a bunch of hypotheticals anyway, I don't see why people get so worked up.

You've got Derickx as the 2nds ruck, despite being delisted. ;)

Think we could get pick 35 for him instead of 53

Daniel Cross from the Doggies will become available. Would imagine he'd be a great asset to a side pushing for a flag or even a GWS or Melbourne looking for more seasoned footballers. Probably at 30 too old now. I definitely wouldn't take him as he is surplus to our needs but I'm sure there would be a few interested clubs.

Probably not when you consider Adams would be worth more than 13 as well. So they end up evening out.

Disagree. Guys like Batchelor, Nahas, Astbury and to a lesser extent Griffiths are the next cab off the rank in a team that looks like it is becoming/already is a premiership contender. They are all players that would get a game in any side out of the eight and these are the teams we will be trading with. They will give these teams many years of good service so I think we should be asking for more.

I'd like to see A.Edwards delisted and McGuane traded for a pick 40-60.
Nahas delisted or traded (if possible)
Derrickx gone
Tuck retired

Rookie List
Stephenson retired
Lonergan delisted
Petterd upgraded :(
Verrier delisted

Persist with the remainder of the list for 1 more year (unless we get a good trade offer).

Last chances Griffiths, Dea, Helbig, O'Hanlon
Second last chances Batchelor, Astbury

That should leave us with 6 spots for our 40 man squad and 2 rookie list spots?

Take 4-5 in the draft, 1 pre-season or 1 free agent/trade.

I'd be drafting 2-3 midfielders, ruckman and 1 KPP. Pick up another midfielder either PSD or free agent/trade.

Rookie list a midfielder and a ruckman.

Like it or not, Lonergan's chances of being retained just increased massively with today's announcement.

Why? Tucky barely plays anyway. Adams will come in and Vlastuin will move to the midfield more permanently as well.

What I was getting at is Batch is probably worth about pick 35 but Adams is worth more than 13 so we'd get less than pick 35 coming back. If that makes sense.

Some people here are really under rating some of our players
Jake Batchelor is a 21 yo kid that has shown he is Afl quality and can play - He has nearly 40 games now and with another 1-2 years under his belt will become our next Bowden/Newman in the backline

Ben Griffiths - 22yo KPD/KPD
2 years injured and a kpp thats stalled this year but could just as well come on in leaps and bounds next year, He has amazing potential and could end up being our Keefe type player

I wouldnt want to be throwing out players like these 2 unless we are clear winners out of the deal and should hold onto both if possible or trade if the deal is really good

Just remember what StKilda offered west coast for Brown last year and he hadnt done much then either but west coast stood firm because they had faith in their recruiting and development

Mitch Brown today would easily be a regular full back in 10 teams

Just remember why we recruited these boys & Ask yourselfs is our development good enough to make them the players we thought they would be and if the answer is yes

KEEP THEM

Mitch Brown wouldn't get a game at Coburg. WC played hard ball because he was contracted. Our 2 guys aren't. Prepare to be pillaged.

A similar comparison for us to the Brown situation is Astbury as he has a contract. In that situation I expect the club to play hard ball and demand a pick in the top 20 or no deal.

He's rubbish. I hope and pray he plays whenever we play WC. There's a reason Saints didn't chase him this year and he signed with WC.

He'd be lucky to be 1/4 as good as his twin who is average at best.
You must not watch the games i do !!

There's a reason why west coast were so insistant to keep him even though they were offered 2 very early 2nd round selections and have now signed him up quick smart

Might be worth your while watching him a little more closely , He would easily fetch a 1st rounder in this draft

Yeah Tuck really did nothing major bar round one, since then he's either been injured or used sparingly, so he hasn't played much into Richmond's calculations anyway. I wouldn't mind a good inside state leaguer, and I think having a decent rookie inside mid would help the seconds and provide depth if and when one of the midfielders gets injured. So Tuck goes, Lonergan goes, hopefully a rookie pick covers for them, and given they played 11 games collectively this season, it's not that hard.

I also think we're underrating some of our players. Batchelor is not Horlin-Smith, but he's done as much as a number within the top 30.
