I don't see what would have convinced you that A. Edwards is not best 22. Played great when in the seniors this year and was amongst our better players against Carlton.

Edwards and McGuane are both good third talls who showed some good form this year, would be surprised if they both aren't retained, with one of them taking a best 22 spot while McBean still develops.

Dusty...hope it's just his knob manager wanting to squeeze extra cash...but then again, if it means losing Reece because we cant pay him because Dusty wants $600k...gees I will be torn.

No he isn't - he's a list clogger. "Career best season" = a few good first halves and eventually getting dropped for a 30 year-old reject. The best he can manage after 9 years on our list.

If we really want to be a top club, we need to stop wasting our time & money hanging on to these types, because a top club sure as hell wouldn't.

They just need to decide which of Edwards or McGuane they want. They both have deficiencies and play a different style but keeping both will hinder others development. Keep one on as depth and possibly best 22 until pushed out. I've been swapping them all year but seems as though Edwards has won out in the end.

yea think edwards has it won for sure now. proved me wrong wit his defensive efforts, harassing and chasing. hits the scoreboard more and is more of a threat to kick a bag. mcg's time is up i feel.

Clubs are already on the front foot with their cleanouts with Collingwood the latest. Wonder when we can expect ours? Last year it took five days after the end of the season, so we could potentially know very soon.

What about O'Hanlon and Elton? I'm not saying they should be cut/traded or that they will be, just I don't know much about them and certainly don't hear their names bandied about much. Any worth? Seems like others have overtaken them in spades, I could be mistaken though...

No chance they go anywhere. Particularly Elton. O'Hanlon has had a few injuries this year but he's the exact type of player we need delivering the ball to the forward line. Elton will be developed as our monster CHF and will be given that time to develop. We don't need to rush him in yet but I think he will get games next year. His issue is he isn't the smartest player going around so needs to learn structures.

The sanfl is the best comp outside the afl. You only need to look at the number of mature aged recruits from adelaide making an impact for their respective clubs.

Cannot believe how overexcited some opposition supporters get namely Eagles thinking they are just about getting a pick 6 with 50 quality games under his belt for donuts. "No way will pick 6 be involved". How the f*** would they know....if a club is willing to offer 500k they are willing to trade something decent.

We have been speaking about it a bit on the Essendon board and we think there may potentially be more player movements than previously. HOWEVER, these players will more than likely be non - best - 22 guys who will be looking for more opportunities (like Trav Colyer [kicking and application b4 you ask], Kyle Hardingham [kicking & offensive capabilities], Leroy Jetta [application] etc. who may use this loophole to there advantage to break contracts (Jetta is contracted for 2014 for example) and move to another club.
