Don't know why posters above reckon Richmond's haul was stronger than the Saints. I know our first rounder will be used for Conti and rightfully so, but the Saints got a full 3 more seasoned recruits than us. Plus Brancatisano is completely unproven. I said last year and I still believe the AFL should award expansion clubs picks in the first three rounds to get them up to 12-14 strong players (including expansion players) then let them do the rest of the work themselves.
Richmond used their first round pick on Sabrina Frederick

True KB hasn't been AA but put her in the next draft and she'd go #1.
I agree on a lot of your reply really. Tough to equate a few stars and a few more above ave players but I guess that's the league's balance they have to strike.

Don't agree on the KB thing though. I'd take a Molloy, Morrison, Conti, Prepakis type at 18-21 over KB in a heartbeat. Good young mid in the women's game has not only beaten the best forwards for value since 2017, the gap has actually increased over time. It's why im not super hopeful about Frederick's impact next year. Though I guess at least KB is the type to push up and play a handful of mid minutes.

I too believe midfield play is developing at a faster rate in general, so it's logical to suggest good forwards are rarer and thus more valuable. We at least know Richmond see it that way, how else to explain their choice of "marquee" signing? Nevertheless I personally don't think any team can legitimately challenge for a flag without three A-Grade onballers.

Double Nevertheless I don't really mean to make a mids vs fwds point, nor a Brennan vs Conti-as-we've-come-to-know-her argument. Rather, the KB = #1 statement was more about a seasoned AFLW captain entering her prime vs a low-profile schoolgirl in the comparatively invisible and bruise-free U18 National Championships who might not completely live up to high pick hype at the top women's level.

Sure we can say now that Carlton taking Prespakis early in the draft was correct because, to follow up on something you mentioned earlier, she went on to prove herself.

Should be interesting. Using the ill-fated points system (in which players at their existing clubs would receive a value between 10 and 50) I estimate Richmond's 5 and St Kilda's 8 expansion signings add up to 140 points each. My thinking is the Saints will get two picks at the top like the Cats did because neither snared an absolute star of Brennan's calibre (closest they got were Exon who is good, and Hickey who is very good but was also very injured). True KB hasn't been AA but put her in the next draft and she'd go #1.
The myth of anti aflw collingwood heh
Bit like the myth of Melbourne uni girls playing for north

Why no Stevens?
No Eva

Ex Melbourne uni right

Eva and Bernardi both got paid positions by afl
Adequate compensation hardly

Amazing how you have instilled yourself as a expert on a system that
Changes like the weather
Is a exhibition
Heavily factored to 1 state compromised with ambassador $ and supported by a territory team also highly funded

Anyone suprised with the crows 2 flags

Ps pity going all in didn't help you last year in your quest for relevance

What a waste lol

Most of your retort is either irrelevant to the topic or so irrational that it's not worth getting bogged down in. Two quick points:

1) I claim no level of expertise by simply extrapolating last year's compensation picks, indeed if the AFL change their method then of course different results will be produced.

2) I would like anybody trying on the "Adelaide has a state all to themselves, not fair wahhh" argument to explain how having exclusive access to Nikki Gore was the reason they won the premiership.

With a trade with Bri Davey still yet to be done, and those out of contract. Seems maybe Rowe may not return to Australia, Brazil may just focus on netball (as if she wanted to, you'd think they would resign her, and Rowe too who got best new player at our BnF) but the others may be delisted..

That is the Crows list completely decided, as far as I can tell.

They've ended up with 24 players signed. All of the 21 premiership players except Jenna McCormick are re-signed. Outside of that group, the only other ones still there are Nikki Gore, Maisie Nankivell, the returning Ruth Wallace and the injured Rhiannon Metcalfe.

As far as I can tell, we don't seem to be targeting anyone for a trade, so I assume we'll just go to the draft to fill up the remaining spots, or possibly pick up some of the delisted players as free agents. Might be a lifeline thrown to Sally Riley or Katelyn Rosenzweig depending on how deep we think the SA/NT talent runs.

I know AFLW is different, but Conti is a 19 year old who has won a best and fairest and the equivalent of a Norm Smith medal. Getting pick one was always going to be the case, but she is worth more.
Yeah, I'm not surprised dogs were asking for nothing less.
