"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

School holidays?
**** off idiot. Just because you're turned on by his haircut. I wouldn't mind being on holidays, but I've finished school, and uni.

Do you not even know how to read? I said IF that's right IIIIFFFF he doesn't improve and have a damn good season, then it's time to get rid of him while we still can get some really good DP's for him.

You must be a moron that has mancrush on certain players, not long ago you were calling for Carrazzo's head genius

You might be cool with him not willing to put in the effort that's required of him but I'm not. When the going gets tough, Gibbs goes missing so stfu.

all that vomiting on sand dunes in the Middle East 5 months ago was supposed to turn us into Supermen.

Is there any chance that, should Warnock want to leave, we could take a young midfielder off GWS for a straight swap?

I'm thinking of Shiel or Tyson in particular.

The problem with any fix-up strategy we go with is that we need a mid right now, not a young one who will develop in 3 or 4 years.

Look - I really dont care about all this trade stuff..too hard to understand anyway.

What matters is if we chaneg players - make sure we get the prettier players - it is good for our image as teh best looking midfield int eh competition.

Now I think it is time to expand our good look department into teh backs and forwards too.

We need to focus on playing pretty with pretty players.

I think he means an additional first and second round pick.
That's right, I didn't word things well.

We need to open up to having quite a few picks and try and get a few extra in the first few rounds and really chase not just midfielders but genuine strong onballers. We need to be mindful of trading good players and that means parting ways with a good player who it won't hurt for us to lose. So perhaps that means backing guys like McCarthy and Watson and trading Bower. I am hoping a number of cluber become interested in Warnock to push his value up. Ellard might also be worth a bit. It would be good if Russell could play decent footy, he is another that could be a part of our clean out and way into the top 2 or 3 rounds.

Anyone kno how Travis Tuck is playing, not sure if he's in and under tho. I'm more partial to combing the state leagues rather than drafting a kid that won't be playing regular footy for 5yrs.

Last year there was a general consensus, from outside, but also within the club, that we;

1) lacked a second deep forward or tall forward option. Hammer seems partly to have filled that void, but it remains a real concern.

2) lacked a quality inside mid that might fetch more ball for the runners. This has been an issue for a long time, with McClean brought in as potential solution, and Curnow. No one yet has filled the hole.

You could make a case that we lack another tall defender, but Bower seems to be doing all right so far, and was far from worst against the Saints.

My worry is that the club has known about these fairly obvious holes in the list, but hasn't been able to do much about it. Mitchell constantly going down doesnt help either. We all know how the McClean trade has turned out.

Can we take the next step without addressing these holes? Can we lure another quality insider over the trade period? Will Mitchell come good this year, or is it a write-off for him?
Some of the players we need are injured:
Carrazzo, Laidler, Davies & White are all capable of filling some of the roles you guys are all talking about.
Yarran will come in their week.
We have have injuries to all the talls Mitchell, Rowe, McCarthy (back now))we got to protect ourselves from the problems of last year where we were terribly exposed with a shortage of falls.
Davies is capable of being that aggressive on baller to protect Judd etc. But he needs to get more experience/ games under his belt. Can't do that sitting on the sidelines injured.
:confused::confused::confused:

Andrew Carrazzo Shoulder 6 weeks
Blake Bray Shoulder 1 week
Chris Yarran Toe Test
Jeremy Laidler Knee 4-5 weeks
Levi Casboult Knee 5 weeks
Luke Mitchell Shoulder Test
Marcus Davies Shoulder 6 weeks
Mitch Carter Back 2 weeks
Sam Rowe Testicular Cancer Indefinite
Simon White Knee 5-6 weeks

Needs

1. A big bodied, strong inside midfielder.
2. A big bodied, strong contested marking foward.
3. One or 2 quality small defenders.
4. Accountability.
5. A game plan
1 & 2 for sure - whether our list can supply No.2 is not going to help us this year. If Warnock was fit I would let Kreuze have a crack at No.1 in the interim - it would be a sensational experiment ;)

We already have a list capable of winning multiple flags if they play to their potentials, there are no deficiencies provided we have a good run with injuries (and so far we have not been as unlucky as some our injury list is reasonable). We have depth in most areas including kpf. We appear to lack a grunt mid with carrots injured, truth is we have depth there too, its just that they have been playing poorly. Having even more depth or trading out the players (currently) playing poorly for other players gets us nowhere if they too dont perform. If they all perform we win. Not many teams go undefeated so when they do lose they look like there is something missing, instead of just accepting that from time to time things dont work out fans start calling for changes. We are just in a form slump, nothing more than that. List changes wont stop that from happening.

When we are up and about we have a million dollar list, when we are not, we want to fill so called holes in the list. Lets just see the year out and see where this list gets us.

And for those talking about trading Gibbs, get a clue. Just one small clue would be handy so you dont make such colossal fools of yourselves.

Gibbs is a great defender but he's not tough enough to cut it as a mid
Ellard and Curnow are good honest players but are also battlers, we'd love one big bodied mid. That's what we need.
I think we are ok for big forwards. Hampson has come on out of sight and Kruezer is also taking big marks every week. In another year these guys will be great long kick options.
Ideally at the end of the year we'd go hard for a proven inside mid and take other mids in the draft.
We Loaded up on talls recently now it's time to go smaller coz most of our mids are getting towards the latter part of their careers.

Perhaps Russell and Bower types could be used in trades. They could land us a second round pick if we're lucky. The. You dish off two secOnd rounders for an established inside mid or you dish up our first pick instead and we still have two second rounders to use in the draft.

Garlett is really out of form isn't he. In fact cast your eye over the list and a lot of players are playing below par, and only a few have improved - Hampson, Henderson, Kruezer a bit - maybe we should be glad the talls have improved though Jamison and Warnock have done little.

I think Carrots and Yarran out has hurt. Both are in our top ten IMO

.....

I really am not opposed to giving Gibbs up to GWS IF he doesn't improve and have a break out season and we get a couple of first rounders for him.
At the risk of repeating myself (OK Im gonna do it) Gibbs in a straight trade for Dangerfield. Crows were dirty they missed out were dead keen a while ago to get him back to Adelaide. Will be a tough decision but a win/win.

I Suspect you are over-rating our list in terms of suggesting we can win multiple flags, we have a ageing CHF in Waite with no replacement on our list and our best player Judd is now nearing the back end of his career, whilst we are in a position to be in the mix over the next few years, we need some other players to start stepping up and this is not evident so far this year.
We also need some good drafting to continue to improve our list, as we like most clubs have made some mistakes in recent times.

They wouldn't take it, besides we have given them enough already. What we need to do is go for strong bodied onballers who can run and do it with our first three picks at least. We have had a shocking record at drafting onballers, we have picked up bugger all that can actually play in the draft. Hughe's obsession with inbetween sized athletes and slender running types has hurt us as much as its helped us. We have a load of periferal players and no core. Too many athletes and not enough footballers. Heaps of 190 odd cm athletic midfielder/flanker types who are just ordinary players taken too high up like Russell. We have severely neglected the engin room which is littered with players who are either too small, not strong enough, not good enough, too slow, not natural onballers or not hard at it enough.

Trade wise you'd be lucky to snag a good one. The Josh Kennedy steal that the swans got was mind boggling good. We need to have a go at a player who hasn't done anything yet but we are sure will be a star in this role. Perhaps a Morabito. The problem with strong onballers is that they are like key position players. Unless they are guns they are hard to pick when they are young and take some time to develop and if they are any good are too costly to trade for.

So lets go for onballers who show some tricks, nouse and hardness under 188cm and who look like they could put on weight and demonstrate some power and good ball handling who aren't too slow. Forget about the disposal factor or athletic testing and look to develop that later. I want to see at least 5 new players on our list of this type next season.
