To be honest thats the draft that freaks me out the most! But if you go through it there isnt much else to pick from. It really was a weak draft. The one that worries me is Redman - Struggles to get it consistently in the VFL - Is contracted till 2019 so may be a slow burn - He and Mutch are the two i'll be watching in the VFL when i travel to Melbourne.

You looked to have already made up your mind so response not required. To be honest thats the draft that freaks me out the most! But if you go through it there isnt much else to pick from. It really was a weak draft.
Darcy Parish - hasnt resigned
Aaron Francis - Injured & unfit
Alex Morgon - anyone see him alive?
Mason Redmond - doesnt have a defined role.
Mitch Brown - whipping boy
Yestin Eades - lol
Michael Hartley - Shows good signs but stuck in VFL.
But we still pat Disco on the back.

I know its only 2015 but just trying not to get my hopes up like I did with many a rookie in the last 10 years. When did Disco take on the role. You looked to have already made up your mind so response not required.
I get what you are saying but Essendon as a club have accepted that they were resting on their laurels over the previous 15 years and just expected premierships to flow.I know its only 2015 but juat trying not to get my hopes up like I did with many a rookie in the last 10 years. Will add to that that the club knew what they were getting with him. He's a long term high-risk/high-reward type project and it would be a bit reckless to take him on if you're not going to put the work into getting him right. He'd had hamstring issues before, missed half his TAC cup year iirc and then watched all his mates get drafted while he took a year out of footy. We drafted him as an injury-prone 19yo with plenty of upside, he's only in his second year now. I'd be more worried about his motivation taking a knock with so much rehabbing and limited training than the club getting rid of him at the end of his first contract... well unless they start being recklessly ruthless with the list management.Alex Morgan - anyone see him alive? Injured but back playing VFL-has performed ok considering injuries and hopefully can get a senior game before year is out. Alex is probably the least likely at this stage but I've noticed that his application has really improved and I still think he can make it!

I'm unconvinced. I don't see it with him honestly, and I know I've been vocal in that. He needs to show a lot more to be retained IMOWill add to that that the club knew what they were getting with him. Well they got rid of Nyuon and Eades who were likewise high-risk/high-reward and something of a project selection, both for reasons related to personal conduct though, which I don't think Morgan has a problem with? I would think the risk would be lower at pick 29 than it is late in the draft or a rookie pick.I'm unconvinced. I don't see it with him honestly, and I know I've been vocal in that. Yep. Which 8, out of curiosity? I'd say only Jackson Merrett and Craig Bird would be ahead as delisting candidates.I think he's got a bit of work to do but their would be up to 8 other players in line before him so he's most likely safe.

His fate really is tied into his position and other players. He definitely was taken with long term in mind, but we have a few at his rebounding defence position.I think he's got a bit of work to do but their would be up to 8 other players in line before him so he's most likely safe.

I'd certainly take Hocking or Howlett who can impact short term over Morgan who really hasn't shown that much. If it were me he's 1st or 2nd off the list.I'm factoring the retirements' of Jobe, Kelly and Stanton if they do pull the pin. That may not occur. Then I would cut McKernan(no point in holding onto if they won't play him), Hocking, Howlett. I would also seek a trade for Zaka and Gleeson(contracted?). Obviously all won't go but McNeice may earn an upgrade if he goes ok.

I hope Kelly stays also. His role is important but I don't its one thats going to hold back the development of the new guys. I was under the impression that he had a role waiting for him with the AFL though so I wasn't sure if he was going on.In my humble oppinion I see Kelly staying being more likely than Watson, despite the age differential there is a hunger in Kelly's game that cant be denied, he is a warrior.
Stanton will probably stay becauase not even nuclear attack can stop him.
McKernan will probably be dropped, shame because I like him at his best but his worst sucks.
Long is upgrade or delist now.I doubt we would drop McKernan from our rookie list unless we trade in another ruck given TBC and Berger are quite injury prone and Draper probably won't be ready. I would see us only going with 1 pick to the rookie draft and keeping Draper, McKernan and Long (plus McNeice as a Cat B).
Ah right yep, probably all the more reason to keep McKernan on the rookie list if we already are going to have 2 spots available.Long is upgrade or delist now.
We are probably getting off topic a little with discussion around trading and delistings as this thread was intended more for discussing how we think they are developing.
I've seen improvement in Morgan this year and I hope he can keep that momentum going and hopefully contribute to our next premiership.
