List for 2020

Ok this is from the clubs page
Currently we have 40 player (37 + 3 rookies - green)
(added Bonar as not on club page yet)
We have a good spread of ages, but average games played in second group is pretty low.
Players under the pump at the end of 2020 season
We need 4/5 players on main list delisted/retired/traded at the end of next year.
There will be 1 or 2 from group 1 which leaves 3 or 4 from group 2 and 3 and none from group 4
In my opinion Tyson, Jacobs, Hall, Wood and maybe Cambell (if Xerri comes on) will be the most likely candidates from and age/injury/games played in last few years perspective.
As mention elsewhere, the 23- 27 group is underachieving, but this could be partly rectified if some or all of Ahern, VW, Wood, Durdin and Garner have a good year.

Got pretty excited looking at our list. Plus we get 2 or 3 new draft selections added as well.

Well if the following players don’t perform next year in the AFL they will be gone .
Under 23 - McKay and Xerri
Under 27 - Tyson Wood McDonald Turner
Under 30 - Hall McMillan Atley Jacobs
We are not the Salvos of the AFL if players are not up to it trade them or delist them.
We are not a charity we need to get ruthless which will make us a better club.
The days of carrying players are over.

The days of carrying players are over.
It's been twenty years since our last premiership.
It's been nearly that long that I've 'inhabited' this place (notwithstanding some periods of self-imposed exile.)

I'd love it if you were right about this, and you could be.
I'd like a dollar for every time I've read a comment like this in my time here.

I'll trust the club with that one. Some blokes develop slower than others, some come out killing it and fade out.
We need players with sound fundamental skills, strong work ethic, footy brain, fit and a win at all costs attitude.

I’m told list sizes will be 40 next year. AFL was pushing for 38 but seems 40 is the compromise.

If that’s the case we need to get rid of at lest 9 players. This is based on the assessment that we’ll take at least 4 picks at the draft.

Who are the 9 to go?
Jacobs, Wood and Ahern are the obvious 3.
Williams and Crocker likely.
Hosie and McGuinness maybe.
I can’t see any of the other uncontracted getting booted.

So we need to trade out 2?

My guess if 9 changes are made:
Retire: Jacobs
Delist: Wood, Garner, ahern, mcginess, durdin, Campbell, one of pittard/ Williams.
Last spot goes to vickers Willis if he gets any injuries from now until the end of the year

Think this is pretty close. Tom Campbell is under contract for one more year, but wouldn’t be alot of $ so maybe they pay it out?

Not going to happen, but that team looks pretty good. Higgins unlikely down back with Z Williams there. Daw will be 3rd intercepting tall down back with JZ playing forward 70% of the time.

Higgins plays the silky skills out of the backline ala Andrew McLeod in his latter years.
Daw plays the crash & bash forward for the next two years as Comben comes through.
Still havent factored in Polec, Hayden and Bonar either..

As I see it - if you have to get rid of nine and assuming no trades:

Gone:
Wood, Crocker, Jacobs, McGuiness
Then 2 or maybe 3 of: Durdin, McMillian, Williams and Murphy
Then 2 of: Garner, Hosie, Turner and Comden
1 of: Campbell, Xerri, Daw
Maybe: Tyson

Understand Tyson and Campbell are contract, but surely those contracts are worth much to pay out.
And listed in the order I would delist so my Nine:

1. Wood, 2. Croker, 3. Jacobs, 4. MCGuiness, 5. Durdin, 6. McMillian, 7. Williams, 8. Garner 9. Campbell

Why?
Pittard (contracted) and EVW if he stays is similar to McMillian, Durdin and Williams so we can cover these loses.
Keep Hosie and Turner for another year only unless they really show something
At a pinch Xerri can cover Goldie if he gets injured now, so we don't need Campbell as insurance.

Then you look at key position up front and in the backline in the draft and let them develop.

I have de listings and TBC's at 13, that's a big number:

I expect Daw, Williams to likely get deals, but you never know.

Brown is only there as it's unclear if we trade him.

I reckon Daw gets a 1 year deal on the basis that he can provide cover forward, back and ruck. But I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if it was getting a fair bit of discussion.

At the moment I would definitely be delisting the following players:

Jacobs
Garner
Wood
Williams
Hosie
McGuiness

I would be looking very closely at delisting:
Ahern
Murphy
Durdin
Pittard

If Tyson's calf is shot then pay him out. If we are confident that Daw and Maj is enough back up to Goldy then pay out Campbell as well.

I would be open to trading:
Atley
McMillan
Dumont (Maybe)
Polec (Maybe)
Brown (Only if an amazing return was on offer)

One year deals:
Xerri
Turner
Bonar
Crocker
Daw

Two-year deals:
Both Walkers
Hayden

Three-year deals:
Jed
Taylor
Scott
