Thanks for starting a new thread Seppo - I thought I had missed it.

This is such an important year for our club, and we can not afford to have any distractions so if at all possible we need the above players re-signed before the season starts. They are all clearly best 22 and by re-signing these players we will know how much salary cap space we have to re-sign the other players.

I think Freo has set the standard in the AFL in the last few years for player retention.

Last best 22 player to leave for another club was Tarrant at the end of 2010. We may lose someone key at this end of this year, but for the last 3 we have done really well at creating a good culture where people want to stay and have the salaray cap to keep our stars.

Bondy and our other player managers deserve massive credit.

Not sure if anyone saw the Twitter exchange between Barlow and Marty Pask (his manager). Barlow basically asked to stay at the Dockers until he was 36. It was a bit of a joke, but It's good to know that Mick is keen on staying...

"2yrs on top of a 2yr extension with an option for 2 years."

Jeez, Subes must have a bloody good manager if he's all on his lonesome down in the 2017 bracket.

Yes I was laughing at that as well. Really like what Subes adds to the group but never expected to see him as our longest listed player. Oh well Subes, I think it is only temporary until Fyfe signs his 11 year extension:thumbsu:

Almost but not quite as funny as if Kepler was our longest listed player- the longer the contract the more valuable we think they are yeah? :)

I think everyone can see we have focused on drafting mid's in the last 5 years and we are lacking good KPP replacements.

I wonder with the continue push for greater free agency we had planned all along to fill this hole with free agents.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-02-22/aflpas-free-agency-push

Several club sources told AFL.com.au this week the AFLPA had indicated it would seek to cut the minimum free agency qualification period to seven years at the mid-term CBA review.

If the AFL agreed to this in time for next season, this would free 2008 draftees such as Beams, Sloane, Motlop, Shuey, Hill and Rich to explore free agency, with all set to come out of contract at the end of 2015.

He is getting old, I wouldn't expect any more than a year at a time dependent on how his body is faring.

Agree. He is 29, and 2 seasons to go. Sounds very reasonable. He is no key position player or superstar.

But like the extendsion. He has been a very quiet achiever for years now. Little talk about him, but he has played every game when fit now for 5 years.

Ps I think he somehow plays a similar role then "Harry no longer O" with a much more low profile game style. And actually has better career averages in most stats...

If you have a quick look at the Colin Sylvia thread, I think not being talked about means he is doing a great job to be honest.

A bad game and we year them apart on here.

I really hope Sylvia himself never stumbles upon that thread by accident when googling himself.
