It's a lot easier to give away a number one pick for a very good player than it is to manufacture a trade for a former number 1 draft pick when you are not at the bottom of the ladder. McPharlin was a great pick-up but he was really only offered up because he was injury prone and Hawthorn were desperate to get either Hodge or Judd.

Rumors on our board are griff has 3 offers from other clubs worth more then our offer it remains to be seen what happens. If griff decides to leave freo would be in a strong position. And if you guarantee him game time even more so
Taylor will be salivating.
Interesting rumour, thanks for passing it on.

Ok of the remaining 7 on players with contracts ending this year what are the feelings/hope/desires?

For mine
Duffy +2 yrs
Mora +2 yrs
deBoer +2 yrs or trade
McPharlin +1 yr (unless his body is done)
Gumbleton +1 yr (unless his body is done)
Simpson - Rookie
Bradley - done

IMHO one of McPharlin, Gumby or deBoer has to be gone from the main list. I would also anticipate trading one other off the list.

Given the rumours (some saying we are making a play for #1 draft slot ) I would tip us to loose 5 from the main list. I also anticipate upgrading Ballard but not taking a FA.

Duffy +2 yrs - Extend
Mora +2 yrs - Extend
deBoer +2 yrs or trade - Extend
McPharlin +1 yr (unless his body is done) - Will retire.
Gumbleton +1 yr (unless his body is done) - Will retire if not delisted
Simpson - Rookie - Hopefully has turned a corner.
Bradley - done - 50/50 in my opinion.

.
My comments above. I am 50/50 on Kepler because we are not exactly spoilt for choices at key positions whether that be Fwd or Def where he has been playing lately. He'll be 29 next year so there's no reason why he hasn't for a couple more years left in him at the least.

I wonder what the good performances of Crozier and Duffy, and potentially their performance going forward, does for Sheridan's prospects. Sure, Sheridan is much less of a forward than either of those guys, but that's two more best 22 spots he has to be better than. I'd love to keep him in the system, as a few of our mids are getting older, but he's uncontracted next year and if he can't break into the team...

Don't think Freo is the type of club to guarantee game time to get a recruit, not anymore anyway.

Fair enough mate. Last year it was rumored the saints and dogs were into him. That didn't happen but he has offers from at least 2 teams this year but probably 3 including us so 4 offers. He is a former pick 19 has good size on him and can roost the ball 60 off a step the big knock on him is that he is soft but Choco Williams took him under his wing this year and he has improved. Choco last year took dusty as his project player and everyone has seen the improvement would be leading our bnf

Could we trade Sylvia out to a club like a lowly Melbourne club or gws?

I would be happy with a last round pick as long as he freed up a space on our list and they covered his salary. Didn't cost us anything and clearly is not the right fit with RTB. Would rather keep our younger guys, who we have put 3-5 years into.

Sylvia - trade
Gumby - retire
Mcpharlin - retire
Keplar - rookie
Simpson - rookie

4 picks + FA or 3 picks + upgrade +FA

I looked up his stats. He took a few marks, doesn't kick many goals, kicks a few points but high tackle count.
oops didn't translate well

Lol that's a mess. He has played mostly down back because our coach loves trying to give them a defensive side. His best position is up forward and pinch hitting in the ruck. As for his goal kicking he would kick more were just too jack centric. He's good below his knees can tackle and is a good contested mark. Looking at your team I think he would fit in like a glove
