And id 100% go after Sean Darcy before Grundy

Fact is Cripps plays better with Pitto whether he has flaws or not.
Exactly right. Not just Cripps either.

There’s just something he’s doing out there that isn’t measured on a stat sheet, or to be honest, even detectable by eye on tv, or at the ground, that improves us as a whole.

And that will become more evident as he works his way back from injury.

Even when we lose the ruck battle with him in, as we did last night, we still get much better output from our centre bounces and stoppage clearance.

TDK is only 23, still has plenty of time to learn he's ruck craft... Not sure I'd be losing hope in him...
He needs to better his forward craft over the next pre season...

However think it's either TDK or SOS as the forward/ruck for the rest of the year...

If Geelong were to offer 2x first round picks for him, we'd be negligent not to consider it... Personally I'd rather keep him...
Id take the deal in a heartbeat if we still think the Markov experiment will come off.

Get in another mature ager to be Pitto backup, with Mirkov as 3rd choice and then draft another tall as project 4th.

2 firsts for a player who won't have a single brownlow vote to his name and probably won't finish top 10 in our BnF is daylight robbery

If you just watched one game this year, I'd be delisting Pittonet immediately.

Early in the year he was so aggressive and physical, he made life difficult for his opponents and directed his taps well. Tonight he was an utter embarrassment, constantly being brushed aside from ruck contests and marking contests. He offers zero around the ground, you can't even handball it to him when you're under pressure without him stuffing it up. I don't think they can play him next week. Bring back TDK.
Pittonets big body helps the midfield get going. He has more hardness than TDK.

Pitto isnt a ball winning ruck. Nor is TDK.

TDK is not the answer. Did you not watch him get pushed around last week....still very weak. More time and gym work.

Neither is our ruck solution. Hopefully we go for Goldstein as mature interim solution.

Sean Darcy, if TDK is traded

Tonight just proved how much we miss,
Williams, Newman, Boyd, Cuningham, Hewett, Cerra & Kennedy
I disagree.

We applied ourselves, tackled hard and brought the pressure for 4 qtrs.

It showed application and method, will always override personnel.

If anything last night showed, that when Voss and match committee with backs to the wall, tried something different (method, player positions, coaching frm boundary) to the last 22 rounds, our performance could lift.

Thats minimum standard now

Also proved in my mind we are a better team without TDK. Sure he has his moments but does he have a proper role in the team and will he ever make it to a standard we all hope he will get to? Pitto and JSOS did pretty damn well tonight against a brute ruck combo and I think Cripps plays better with Pitto in the team.

He will cost us a pretty penny next year when coming out of contract, plus we need to tie up Charlie and Harry also so this will really restrict us over the next few years to lock away all 3.

Might not be a popular decision, but I'd think the Cats would throw their this years and next years 1st our way and id do it.

As mentioned, I don't think he will ever excel in a specific role and it would certainly help our cap out, plus strengthen our draft hand over the next 2 years.
I'm with you.

We should cash in on TDK "potential". Perfect player to get us the extra first rounder we need and releave the brewing cap issue

I said that last week and people either thought I was being sarcastic or thought I was stupid in saying it.

Cats first pick this year will likely be in the 20s after compo/FS/academy picks.
Next year pick would probably fall into a similar spot.
2x top 20 picks for him would be a good deal. Rucks are overrated. And he "may" become a very good one in a few years. Clubs can win flags with just okay rucks. Look at Cameron, Stanley, Hickey etc. If we could turn him into a top 20 KPF and a midfielder than we should do it, especially if Mirkov is a chance to make it

We overrate our own players currency as fans. 2 firsts for TDK who was an early 2nd pick who has had a couple of highlights and no real breakout game is a good deal.

But then so would have been Brayshaw and Cerra for Cripps 2 years ago. No Carlton supporter would have considered that at the time.

I would be surprised if traded TDK, but if it were massive overs, then it is always a consideration. You can forget about anyone paying him a million dollars a year, that's just media clickbait

But if we were to trade him, the question would be, what are the viable replacement options. Forget about any first ruck at another club and I don't believe we would go down the road of a Grundy unless the Pies are willing to pay more than 300K a year. It also sounds like the Demons will be seriously interested given Jackson is going

That would leave 2nd tier/developing ruckman (ironically TDK is that type). The options could be the likes of Flynn, Meeks types. Both decent ruckmen, that can also be a threat forward

Personally, I think TDK stays at Carlton

Along with picks I'd be asking for whoever is in for him for their current ruckman. So if it was Geelong I'd be saying 2 picks and Stanley.

We overrate their worth to us and underrate their value to others is what we do. It kind of sabotages the discussion. I suppose one point of contention is that Geelong's first round picks won't be that high.

Stanley gives us immediate consistent output, but at 32, it's a real short term decision. Think there are other more viable options, which I listed

Trading TDK for premium picks
Getting Goldie in on 1-2 years
Then grabbing the Victorian Darcy, as an RFA end of next year
That should be the plan

Better off targeting a FA like Goldstein for a year or two and let TDK develop.

But agreed, a component ‘ready to go’ ruckman would be beneficial.

Other than that I’d look at hitting the draft. Need more quality youth.

I don't know if Mirkov is maybe more long term?

Short term: someone 30-32 and Pittonet
Long term: Mirkov plus draft a 3rd-4th rounder

If we could turn TDK into 2x picks that could be in the 15-25 range we'd be silly not to explore it. It's a position that you can get by without an elite player. And he is still a prospect who has shown only flashes. Getting more than what we used to get him has to be looked at

Think you guy's have been spooked by Kane Cornes...

TDK, would be on minimum wage right now, he hasn't showed anything to command an exorbitant next contract...
He'll probably get a deal in the $400k-$500k range, hardly breaking the bank...

He's 23 and still learning his craft... At 23 Max Gawn was still smoking darts and on the cusp of being delisted...

As for your cap issues... This goes for any player on the list... If you want to leave for money then leave...
We have entered a finals team list phase, where we have to pay what we can afford... No player is bigger than the club...

People seem to sway their thoughts heavily in a direction, due to a moment, a game, maybe 2-3.

I also understand that people make emotive statements, even over the top melts, but imagine if the club was that fickle to send the likes of McKay to the VFL and or the trade table.

TDK hasn't even entered a stage where he would be deemed as consistent, let alone where his peak will start. Mirkov will probably get to the point of being more ready back half of next year, but no guarantees. While I like Jsos doing some stints in the ruck, I don't like it to continue on a regular basis
