Hmm, I was under the impression Jonas still had another year on his contract. I'm starting to feel that if he hasn't be re-signed by now it's because we may be looking at moving him on.

I'd assume Mitchell, O'Shea, Stewart, Colquhoun are definite outs.
Ken's basically said we are committed to keeping Monfries, and the only other definite keep is Snelling.

Really torn on Jonas.

When we were up and running in 2013/14, I think he was one of our best players - love the way he goes about it

Had a stinker in 2015, and the Gaff incident combined with injury messed up his whole 2016. Only thing that would worry him is the development of Clurey and Austin, reckon they might have gone past TJ.

Not bad but my only suggestion is lets rookie list Houston and Hewitt (agree) but use other rookie positions for Ruckman, and a KPF who can kick and I'm not convinced about Jonas anymore. Perhaps we can trade as I gather there maybe some interest particularly if Krak is upgraded

Pretty good although I am not convinced about upgrading Krak and I would trade Neade if possible. I would upgrade Snelling irrespective of his game tomorrow... a Neale type player

Delist - assuming no trade likely - Mitchell, Stewart, Hoon, Schulz
Trade, delist if no trade - O'Shea
Trade if can get anything at all, otherwise 1 yr Jonas
Trade, otherwise stuck with - Lobbe, Hoff, Neade, S. Gray
Trade for reasonable offer - Hartlett, Boradbent, Young, Ah Chee
Krak - stays a rookie

Carlile gone end of 2017, Monfries and White need to show they can last a season to stay beyond next year. I believe in KPFs so would keep Butcher. Toumpas needs to improve similarly to stay after 2017.

This plus upgrade Snelling!

I'm leaning more towards seeking to trade Jonas before thinking of offering a year. Given our group and projecting to 2018 I'd say moving on Jonas would be preferable to moving on Broady.

Even in the most likely scenario - O'Shea and Stewart off our 2017 list - we'll need a mature mid sized tall/small depth defender, so that isn't Krak, Impey or Westhoff for that matter. It's Broady that's in line to become the next Paul Stewart - general purpose depth. Jonas at his best is better than depth too, but with (so far) only one demonstrated string to his bow it's up to him to show his value again. Or look at it this way - we're never going to play Jonas in the same 22 as Trengove Hombsch Austin/Carlile Clurey DBJ Pittard are we?

As much as I like him, if you could get any value for Neade, he would be the type of player you would trade in a heartbeat. However, he has just signed a contact extension and we would be unlikely to get anything like value for him from other clubs. All that considered, he will stay.

Yeah, I don't expect us to trade any of Lobbe, Hartlett, Neade, Westhoff or Young. That'd take a set, which we've been lacking. Neade and value though - he's cracked the 50 game mark now and he's still wildly inconsistent and rarely hitting the scoreboard. For a late 3rd rounder or better I'd offload him in a heartbeat. Hell even Neade plus a late 3rd for an early 3rd I'd do.

Westhoff is untradeable - are people really suggesting we should go into next year with Dixon, Butcher and what ever kids we draft as our only Key fowards ?
Westhoff is not a KPF. We're more likely to play a Dixon Monfries/Neade Young Wingard Butch Palmer arrangement. If Chad is "our" Cyril we'd be looking for "our" Gunston/Breust combo out of Young/Palmer. No KPF or even MPF depth, sure, with Doogs out for 2017 ... apart from Lobbe <ducks head>.

As harsh as it sounds hot on the heels of Jay's announcement we could have got something out of Freo for him, yet we didn't, who knows why, probably because Ken didn't want to play Butcher, or didn't want to blood Doogs, or didn't want to re-purpose Lobbe, I don't know, maybe all of the above.

It's far more likely that Westhoff has two years left in him now, even in his roaming role, than it was for Schulz at the start of this year. We need a KPF ready to go R1 2018 and can't rely on it being Doogs because he's probably going to spend half of 2018 regaining match fitness. So if we're going to trade one in on the cusp it has to be this year, hence the Black/Daw/Wright frigging Vickery natterings. If we're reliant on Westhoff playing a KPF role part time in 2018 we're screwed. So if there is a decent offer for him this year when he still might have value we'd be nuts not to consider it rationally.
