I assume your talking about Mundy. He is not an averaged paced 30yo. He is a big bodied quality 30yo. I would take him in a heartbeat if we finish top 4 this year to add a lot of depth to our midfield. If we had him now he would be pushing the likes of Thomas, ball, adams etc out of the team. We would have a fab 4 - Pendles, Swan, Beams, Mundy

He isn't a speedster though is he, he is a good player I agree but not sure he is needed.

I mean why would we chew into our cap like that especially given the sharks sniffing around Reid and then Beams who is yet to re-sign.

We will need our space to sign our much younger guns.

600k we could get a higher quality 27yo RFA.

I wouldnt put him in the speedster category but hes definately quality. As I posted earlier - my interest in him would be if we make a Prelim this year and we need him to possibly take us over the line in 2015.

Having said all of this - I coudnt imagine Freo letting him go - even at $600k I think they would find room in their cap. They did supposedly have $1m for cloke only 2 years ago.

In essence it is the same set up we have now with Maxwell as 3rd tall. Not like Maxwell is an offensive weapon, he plays as the 3rd tall defender. He can't play on small and he is not a great kick, so we don't change much in structure. We just lose his match awareness and football smarts.

Frost is more agile than Maxwell and I reckon would be a better man on man defender on smaller quicker types than Maxwell.

People seem to discount Maxwell's height at 193cm. Not too much difference between him and Frost or Brown so don't see how people can argue we can play 2 of our KPDs (Keeffe/Brown/Frost) and Maxwell but not the 3 KPDs. Just don't get the logic.

Same as the arguement about playing both Witts and Grundy making us too slow v's teams that also have 2 or 3 ruckmen.

The next 1 is the arguement that when Reid comes back and we have to drop either Witts or Grundy. Yes we may have to but we may also be able to retain them and push White up to a wing. That along with clever rotation of Witts/White/Cloke/Grundy/Reid through the interchange bench meaning your likely to only ever have 4 of them actually playing at any given time means that it COULD work. Yet it is discounted out of hand. Mystifies me.

If we have too many key defenders as it is, what would be the point in trading one in Brown for another in Frawley?

And just when did Frawley become that good that he's worth Brown AND a 2nd round pick. I'd suggest more like Frawley and a 2nd round pick for Brown.

That said, don't think we should be chasing Frawley, particularly on the sort of $$$s touted, and don't think we should be so hasty in offloading any of our KPD stocks.

Maxwell doesn't play like a key defender. It's the same with Goldsack. Neither have the strength 1v1 to handle big bodies.

The difference with Keeffe, Brown and Frost is that all three are negating types first. Perhaps Reid down back could play with two - say Keeffe and Frost because he's an excellent intercept mark and can generate meaningful rebound by foot but three of Frost/Brown/Keeffe unless you're playing Sydney with their oversized front half isn't practical to play against most teams.
With our defensive running midfielders supporting our back half they could all fit in the same team but it's not ideal.

I'm obviously a bit more bullish about what our KPDs are capable of. I see Frost and Keeffe having lots of scope for development. Think we're seeing them play a predominantly negating role because that's what the team has needed. Keeffe in particular has enormous scope for development as an intercept/run and carry defender, he's a good reader of the game, agile, and a good user.

And even Brown is offering more run and carry as he matures. Generally plays on the oppositions best forward so a little more restricted in just how much.

It seems Sam Reid is having a bit of a nothing year. What are people's thoughts about trying to get him over here with his brother

He hasn't really for most of his time he was the only tall forward then they buy Tippet and Buddy and now he is pushed to the side

The bought Tippet and Buddy because they don't have faith in Reid any more.

He can take a good mark every now and then but apart from that he is poor. His goal kicking is woeful

Will they be on the seniors list next year?

Maxwell
Clarke
Ball
Lynch
Armstrong
Ramsay
Oxley

I'd like to put Marsh and Ramsay on the rookie list (maybe even Armstrong depending how this year goes) and promote Martin and frost.

Keep yags and mooney on the rookie list for one more year and see how they develop and delist the rest.

Lynch, Clarke, delist/retire and let Maxy and ball make a call on their own careers (although I feel it could be one more year too many for Maxy- maybe even ball although I still love em both)

I know this shouldn't matter mvoinf forward but Luke Ball is on 71 Club Games. Would really love for him to bring up the 100 mark, that means he needs to play 29 more game for us. If he plays every game this year thats another 15 taking him to 86 (not including finals).

I've mentioned it before, if he has a son and his son is a great footballer I'd be confident we'd get him over the Saints.

Again all speculation, but the question I guess is has Luke Ball got 29 games left in him?

I think he does. He is also good around the clearances in the forward line. Instead of resting him against weak sides- Melbourne, saints, Gws, Carlton, use him as a sub.

I think doing that will extend his chances of reacing hte magical 100.

i am very confident we would pluck Lukes potential son over Saints if Luke is able to play 100 games, I may be looking at it to simpley but which club would you rather play at? A rich club your father played a premiership with that has a proud history, or a club that doesnt have that proud of history, a massive losing culture in the past and the fact he left them for the circumstances he was under. but it all really relies on how the 2 clubs are going at the time.

and yes, i believe Ball has the ability to play another 54 good games for us, ill settle with 100 though.

All good, I do reember Luke himself said he wanted to reach 100 Club games, s that at least sounds good.

Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk
