What about Kane Lucas as a delisted free agent?
I have been thinking about Lucas, high draft pick meaning the potential is there. Not unrealistic that he could be delisted at seasons end as well. Good outside pace and made a huge impact when he was played as the sub against Richmond he killed it. I dont think he will ever unleash his potential at Carlton and judging by what he has done so far and if he doesnt do anymore his time at the Blues could be up. If we recruited him he would be very handy as the super sub every week every round of the year.

He be well worth a punt. Be better then Armstrong

Lucas strikes me as a slightly faster, shorter Karnezis. I wouldn't be completely averse to picking him up as a DFA if that's how it unfolded.

We should be targeting quality defenders and rebounding ones with top skills.
I reckon we should be targeting anyone with top skills. We already have Scharenberg, Ramsay, Broomhead, Seedsman, Oxley, Williams etc. etc. as rebounding defenders, so while you can never have too many guys with top skills, I don't know why rebounding defenders would be the priority.

If anything, to me it's our forward entries that need a lot more polish.

I'm excited by those guys but our current back six do not possess any where near AFL standard footskills. It's atrocious so I would be looking to add to that in the off season.

I do agree anyone with top skills however is required.

The one comment from a Carlton supporter that has stuck with me about Lucas was following a defeat to Hawthorn last year.

"The guy is frightened of contact. I reckon he has cyber sex."

No thanks.

At this point in time the more settled this season becomes the more content I am with our list.

I'm still very keen on Grimley if we can shake him loose from Hawthorn and Sexton along the same lines with GC. The only other player I would really be targeting is Broadbent.

He fits the profile of the prototype player we need.

Good skills. Check
Big body. Check
Defensively minded. Check

If we got one or two of them plus Moore when added to the ingredients we already have in place I would be confident that with 2 years and a decent run with injuries the worm will turn very much to the positive.

Great call. Port would never let him go but I would give one of my limbs for Broadbent.

That said, if Langdon comes on and is released to play more of a midfield role with our injuries/depth improving in the back half, we may be alright in that area.

Yeah I agree, but in round 3 2012 would you have thought it possible that Clinton Young would be a Pie in 2013 or that in round 3 of 2013 Shaw could be a Giant in 2014? So you never know.

We have an abundance of small ball winning types waiting in the wings while we are persisting with Swan and Ball through the middle. If we sacrificed one (who just happens to be a board favourite), IMO, we could get something done for Broadbent.

Not saying let's do it, but it's certainly an option worth considering with our first rounder seemingly locked in plus our need for big bodies and skill.

I'd hope he isn't the sub every week. I don't think we have enough fast players in our starting 21.

Hes not the type to play at the same level for 4 quarters. Hopefully next year Kennedy and Freeman will be best 22, with Seedsman and Marley in the line up. So we wouldnt be lacking footpace.

He will be lucky to play this year and he is only one player. We have another 5 spots in a back six who need to be as equally good.

Well he is Back training next week so that is a Great Sign he could be playing in the VFL 2-3 Weeks

Would do you guys think it would take to recruit Sam Frost to the pies? He looks to be a gem and the Frost brothers down back would be a great team for years to come.

I think your going for the hearty story of brothers playing together more than anything. Started the season well much like Jack but we don't need anymore KPD

We have good depth down back and I think GWS would try to retain him.

Yeah abit of that, but i always rated S.Frost in the NEAFL, and if it weren't for J.Frosts performances this season i would have happily given Jack up for Sam.
With Brown about as injury prone as anyone in the league and Keeffe (judging by this years performances) is on the decline after a solid 12' and 13'.

Sam Frost is about as good as a forward and defender, so hes not just limited to playing in the backline.

We should package a deal up with GWS to bring Frost and Jaksch over as we lack young key position players.

Would we have the Fire Power without a 1st Round Pick?

I'm guessing with the Broadbent mention that you saw the game the other week where he roosted that goal from the centre square?

He has a long kick on him and covered the ground well and is a penetrator with some height.

I'll watch him with interest this season and he's captured my attention also but I'm not yet 100% convinced. Down back he can be prone to losing 1v1s and his footskills I'm not convinced with either as someone who can be prone to the odd ugly turnover.

What about Kane Lucas as a delisted free agent?

Don't hate this idea. Lucas might be one of the softest players going around, but he was a high draft pick and surely there is some potential there if he is used correctly. Plus imagine if he played in a Pies premiership or went AA with us. Worth the risk just to laugh at the Blues.
