Saints and Dogs would give a first pick for Brown

I don't think we will trade him I feel we are under valuing his role in the team

Fair enough. I'm just throwing things around. Not my best.

No, fair point.

I understand the attractiveness of Frawley, but with Frost coming on, Reid potent at either end and Keeffe rebounding after an indifferent pre-season, not to mention Brown a decent defender in his own right, it is perhaps overkill, even with Reid switched full-time as a forward.

Only Free Agents I'd look at are Mundy, Gibbs, Goldstein (mind you, he might be overkill too), or Dangerfield next year.

I think Both Mundy and Goldstein would be an overkill and if Gibbs leaves he's only going to an Adelaide club.

Thanks, from that free agent list the only one I'd like is Dangerfield next year. Had this discussion yesterday re the ruck, I'd like to see us draft an older state league player (27-30) as they'd be insurance on Witts and Grundy and all going well would predominantly play VFL.

Yeah, a state leaguer like Mark Seaby is probably my preferred option, although I'd be looking at that player at least half the season at least in the seniors, with one or the other of Witts and Grundy playing each week as the 2nd ruck.

Save the cash for Dangerfield...

Sounds like you're onto something.

Martin was courted by Adelaide in the offseason and offered a senior spot. Decided to stay at pies and win a spot on the list.

Hope he gets his chance. He certainly deserves it.

What's the go with Kyle Martin from Collingwood? there was a rumour we were interested.

Heard from a guy who is in the know at Collingwood and he said it was unlikely. Apparently will be elevated off the rookie list this draft and will see more time in the AFL this season.

We gave up Heath Shaw for a reason you know

Nathan Jones would be good. bit of hard mongrel and don't give up attitude.

There is more chance of Ablett coming to Collingwood in 2015. Jones is the number one clubman in the league and an absolute champion of the Melbourne football club.

If anyone deserves success as a one club player in the current AFL it's him :thumbsu:

I like the idea of going after Giles from GWS, now that they have Mummy and the three KPF, he is being used as the CHF and 2nd ruck, but ultimately will be pushed out as Patton, Cameron and Boyd mature. Giles is around 27/28, 200cm and 100+kg, would not cost the farm and could be relied to ruck and go forward if needed. It would also be insurance for Grundy/Witts/White/Reid injuries.

The only reason we would draft Giles is if we thought he was going to be a better option than Witts / Grundy / White. Also he wouldn't come that cheap and I doubt he would move to a club to play VFL, where I am sure he could play AFL as number 1 ruck elsewhere

What I can see potentially happening at seasons end:

Maxwell (retire)
Clarke (delist)
Ball (retire)
Lynch (retire)
Hudson u/r (retire)
Armstrong (delist)
Ramsay (put onto the rookie list)
Martin (promoted)
Yagmoor (delist)
Frost (promoted)

Of course all of this won't happen, but I won't be surprised if any of these happen, would like to see Ball/Maxwell play in 2015 if they're up to it.
