We have the Cash, we had the cash to match Thomas's offer.

Lynch retiring frees up another $250-300K.

And i would def entertain Garlett. He can go missing but he is a genuine talent when on song. Could work well in our forward line.
Unfortunately I think Hawks are in box seat for Frawley ... Yes we have some cash but they have more with Buddy gone, and I know where I'd rather be going if I was chasing success like Chip.

and why would we chase Frawley as he has the Same Problem as everyone else. Poor Kick and Descion Maker

Word around the circles from about 6-8 weeks ago is that Geelong are the front runners and is the most likely destination should he decide to leave

His kicking efficiency is 73.3%, better than Fasolo's...
Its a urban legend about his poor disposal.

He conceded 25 goals in 17 games last year. They are elite numbers for key defender. Especially given that they were getting pumped by 70 points a game last season.

So Garry Lyon is a Idiot and Knows nothing?

He had a Pretty Good Example of his Problem few weeks ago.

So Let’s offer him 850k a Year then

Well Gary Lyon is the same person that spearheaded selecting Mark Neeld as coach and you don't think he wants Frawley to remain a demon..?

Not defending his poor decision making, he does have the odd brain fade, but his defensive numbers are elite which is why he was selected as All Australian in 2010 and as i've already shown you, his effective disposal % is 73.3. I'd take the actual stat that's recorded and is fact versus somebody saying he has poor disposal. It just simply isn't true.

Wow....that's SERIOUSLY impressive! Love your work, Derek?

Frawley would be a nice to have but can't see it happening.

I'd be tempted to go after Carlisle as others have mentioned and promise him we would play him back. With Carlisle and Frost back with Brown as support and Reid forward we could then offer Keeffe as trade bait, potentially to a QLD side or Melbourne if Frawley does leave. I'd also be looking at Fitzpatrick from the Dees to play that third forward/second ruck role. Could be a straight swap.

Fitzpartick would be a Interesting Prospect. Would look at him on the Cheap

Curious as to your thought process, you can't see Frawley happening when he's UFA so no trade required yet make it sound easy to get Carlisle who Essendon would not let go easily on top of having to convince Carlisle to make the move. No mention of what you'd be willing to give up to the Dons. Without knowing much about Fitzpatrick he could be an interesting prospect but perhaps a little green for our requirements and probably a better fit at Melbourne with a longer term view.

Never said it would be easy to get Carlisle.

I just think with Frawley we won't match the cash he will be offered and if he doesn't leave for cash it will be success and hawthorn probably trumps us there.

As for the trade I wasn't sure what his value would be. I'd love to think a 2nd round would get it done but not sure it would. He's definitely not worth a 1st round.

If cash is all he's after I think he will stay at Demons as they should have enough to keep quality players esp with likes of Clark retiring (although I'm not sure how his contract payout took place or would be accounted for).

As for success it's easy to say Hawks the most attractive but if you look at their list they have Lake, Mitchell, Burgoyne, Sewell, Gibson, Hale & Hodge all 30+, that's a massive amount of talent and experience to replace to stay at the top of the tree. They wouldn't be my first pick if I was Frawley based on that alone as injuries mean no team is a certainty next year so he should have a two plus year view to get success, throw in other factors like part of Frawley value is as a swingman and Hawks don't really need to add anything to their forward line.

Freo probably just as attractive from success point of view and have McPharlin & Pavlich to replace + some other vets.
Swans 6 30+, Cats 5 but only 1 key pos

Port or Suns provide better multiple options for success in Frawley window but would Suns want / need him and does Frawley want to go interstate?
In Vic I'd think it would be between us and Cats.

At the end of next year, offer 1st round + JT to Brions for Aish - come to Melbs and play with all your SA buddies (Shaz/Broomy/Kenno +Grundy)

Why would Brisbane trade the likely rising star and future key to their midfield after such a short time? Though I am getting a bit of deja vu.....

Thinking they won't. It's just a scenario that I'd be posing to Aish's management if he wants to leave...rather than "go home" to Adelaide, come play for a big Melb club w a lot of your mates (hoping that has some appeal - but again, it's not a trade to initiate with Brions but rather if Aish states a desire to leave).
I still think we're paying unders but at least they get more than a 2nd rounder like they did last year...

(I love Mayes too...but think he has already extended his contract)

Fair points. As I said Frawley would be a nice to have and if you can bring someone in without giving up a player you do it.

If we could grab him I think it frees us up to look at a trade for Keeffe. There will be clubs inquiring, especially if Frawley signs. Hawthorn, Bulldogs and Brisbane you would think would show some interest.

With a heap of 1st round draft picks coming through in Scharenberg, Freeman, Broomhead and Kennedy as well as Langdon impressing it does give us options to look at those 22-24 year olds on our list who might get surpassed by the kids and might have value now. Specifically here I am thinking about Blair and Josh Thomas. Clubs like St Kilda, Melbourne and Brisbane have missed some in that age bracket due to poor drafting (St Kilda) and go home factor (Brisbane). Melbourne might see Blair as an upgrade on Shannon Byrnes and provide some leadership.

They may be looking to fill that gap and be prepared to throw up 2nd round picks to add players like that to their squad. St Kilda did it last year with Savage from Hawthorn.

Blair, Thomas and Keeffe are all solid players who can expect to have good careers but right now they may be the currency that nabs us a Fitzpatrick from Melbourne, a Campbell from the dogs or a pick that could be used elsewhere to nab a speedy type with footskills out of GWS or the Suns.
