I didn’t see any of last nights game
Me either. I have seen it on Facebook, Bluesky, the TV news, news.com.au and Bigfooty though. Seems to have really riled up the Port board...

Like George refusing to be fired from the Yankees

Port is a mostly garbage list. Some top players, but Butters will leave at the end of next year and Bergman the end of the year following. Luko is Jack Watts V2.

They don't have any improvement in the list as it stands, as they have zero depth and have wasted picks.

The opportunity to play with friends doesnt come around very often. My money is on him choosing Port.

Is it the right play for Port?

No, Port chasing NWM should have the AFL world scratching their heads going wtf are they actually thinking. How much of it is responsible list recruitment and management and how much of it is lets get him so the Crows cant? It stinks a lot of the latter TBH kind of like Jack last year. But hey its on them. Port should be spending every draft pick they have on getting into the top 10 in the next few drafts before Tasmania come in.

I dont care if he goes to Port. If his manager doesnt advise NWM that Port do this all the time, the list is very bad as a result and they are going to be years in the footballing wilderness trying to fix it, then what can you say.

Luko is better performed than Watts ever was. We didn’t chase him hard for the craps and giggles.

We need a genuine 7th small forward. Kinda badly

Doesn’t look like Taylor or Pedlar are going to be able to impact consistently enough (Pedlar better than Taylor but question marks are still there). And obviously Murphy shouldn’t play another game for the club

Do we have another crack at Rosas? Still can't find his way into the Suns side.

We have Murphy!

Didn't Farrell just sign a new deal a few weeks ago ??

Soldo isn't worth anything either

Signed a 5 year deal. So not going anywhere. Soldo done. And the other part of his deal Berry, why on earth would they trade out a need player they rank as a potential star for NWM. Makes no sense to remove one for the other plus gift extra talent. Any trade would consist of draft picks only. Unless Butters decides he is keen to head home to Vic.

Sounds like a five year 3 premiership bullshit

Anyone who looks at Ports list and says they are under performing its all Kens fault probably should be taken as seriously as they five year 3 premiership crap they peddled a few years back.

Could the 7th forward just be a mid forward?

Couldn’t agree more. Dovaston with our first pick (around 20 once all the academy nonsense is sorted) feels right this year, but he might not even make it that far.

Failing that, the out of contract options that I would at least consider (they’re not great, but perhaps could benefit from a change of scenery) are: L Charleson (Port), M Rosas (GC) and T Sonsie (Rich).

Failing all of that, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if Dowling could nail down a small forward role as a stop-gap. Not a traditional small, but he’s just more versatile than most of our other young players, and I’m very confident he can play some genuinely good footy inside 50. Far more confident than I am in Taylor (who would be far better suited to playing further up the ground at AFL level or not at all), Pedlar (who is hard at it, but just doesn’t get the ball enough or have clean enough skills) or Draper (who is wasted inside 50).

Nankervis or Cook can take Tex’s spot next year - that doesn’t concern me at all. It will be exciting to see which one of them can nail down this position, and I think this change can actually improve the team.

Dovaston with our first would really excite me. Also would be happy with the SA guys in Cumming/Marsh/Barker if they make it that far (different positions I know)

Rosas is the one that interests me the most out of those guys. Sonsie was good mates with Soligo at Rangers, so I guess that could make sense too, though I’m lower on him. If you could pull Sam Butler out of Hawthorn or even Callum Brown out of GWS (I know he’s more a medium forward), I’d be happy with those too

Agree that Dowling still could be a good option. I honestly think Taylor might be done with us, Pedlar will last out his contract but he’s still very inconsistent

Sheesh, I would have thought Pedlar is a far better prospect than players like Charleston or Sonsie.

This just feels like a grass is greener elsewhere vibe.

I'd roll the dice on Rosa's though - it's cost very little and there's upside there

I can’t say I’m big on Charleson. I’d have Pedlar maybe on equal footing with Sonsie? But they’re different types of players though, Sonsie gets more of it, Pedlar a bigger goalkicking threat

Rosas the most talented of that trio, I think
