Agent to Port “NWM is keen to play with Burgoyne”
Port “woohoo”
Agent “but you don’t have any first round picks, which decent players are unsigned you might jag a decent pick for”
Port “Burgoyne”

OK now we can get serious about chasing Mattaes Phillipou.

Maybe we draft Jevan and keep it in the family?😉
Where do you see Jevan's draft range? Seems to have had an unfortunate run with injury during the year.

Late 1st round/2nd round dependent on how he finishes the season given he's missed representing SA at the Nationals which will keep recruiters guessing at this point.

NWM is still talking to us. Port can’t get a deal done, that’s clear.

IMO it’s 2 years at Saints until they do or we still have a chance.

I agree with what you said before, if he loves football at St Kilda but doesn't have mates for outside of football, then it shouldn't make that big a deal who he plays for. Polec and Smithers didn't avoid each other when he came back so I'm not sure the big deal.

In saying that, I'd want Phillipou over NWM but would prefer Marshall and Phillipou.

The destination club always has the upper hand. If he does choose port over staying, the deal will get done. It pretty much always does. Saints will be bent over a barrel, poor bastards.
Or NWM is similar to Rankine and will only request a trade if their club get fair compensation, Port Power had Bergman who had trade capital along with their 2026 1st rounder but they decided to re-sign him so we might be in a better chance then initially thought provided NWM really want to return home to family and isn't as fuss with playing for the Crows as reported by the media.

If NWM does come back to SA, then I'd hope he would be considered which team is going to be challenging for a flag over the next 5 years while he is entering his prime. If he does then we would have to be a strong consideration.

If he just wants to play with some mates and doesnt really care about winning a flag then he will go to Port.

If he comes to us he gets the best of both worlds, gets to play in a side playing finals and maybe win a flag, and can then spend his time away from the club with his mates and family.

Twomey seems to have very tight links with Port

Been on their training camps, regularly reported the Houston / Lukosius updates last year, and Bergman this year. Expect NWM to follow suit.
Deals normally get done when a player nominates, but without a 1st rounder, going to be intriguing what Port would offer up for NWM now Bergman is staying.
