Until we get half a dozen injuries and slip out of the finals.

It wouldn't have taken too many injuries for any of the finalists to have ended up with 12 wins instead of 15, and they'd instead be tenth or eleventh.
Interesting watching the final play by Nas. Marshall was smart enough to listen to his instructions, and skilled enough to execute. With TDK coming in, any chance of getting Marshall in? He could replace Tex and do all the chop out rucking that Filthy currently does

Not disputing the idea. Just listening to this interview he seems to really enjoy his time around the ball

We're all assuming Tex is done at years end ??

I must admit I'm on that side of the fence too, but why would you replace him with Marshall in any case ??

Marshall isn't a forward, if we were getting him we're trading ROB. Not much difference to St Kilda having TDK and Marshall which to me is nonsensical. They are better off keeping Marshall and using their coin elsewhere, TDK is ridiculously overpriced for what he is

Marshall isn't a forward - if he wanted to do that, he's stay at the Saints.

He's a ruckman. We now don't get Marshall for the same reason we won't get Draper - no reason to run two ruckmen in your team. We have someone incredible who we can push into the midfield for a few minutes a game.

We'll replace Tex with someone smaller and mroe mobile - the only reason we're not already too tall is how well drilled they are, and how smart Tex is as a footballer.

Generally, the full time rucks aren't the ones who can play as forwards. Bit like the Grundy/Gawn screw up of a few years back by Melbourne.

Mind you, I'm all for bringing in a ruck/forward to remove Thilthorpe ruck chop out. I just think this should be more in the cheap and cheerful direction (especially as it makes it easier to undo if it doesn't work).

Well that and we've built our entire 22 around a star tall forward, and the ability to suffocate transition play.

We could replace Tex with another ruck/forward and we still won't be too tall. Most of that discussion is just jumping at shadows as Tex isn't too crash hot defensively.

We could of course also draft Louis Emmett who could be in our draft range, athletic Forward/Ruck with excellent skills or even Taj Murray with a later pick.

We could, though I'm personally on the Toby Murray train for this next year. Just everything about the bloke strikes me as someone who'll have a solid career.

Is it just me, or has the 2025 draft buzz been remarkably silent to this point of the year? I get why Crows fans/media aren't discussing it much (late pick, a few trade plays in the works).

But even on a national scale it seems like a lot less fanfare is being made about this crop. Apart from Gettable, i've barely seen it covered.

Because theres so many NGA and Northern Academy types, no one cares.

We've got Showdown replays to watch.

It is because most of the top 10 are F/S and Academy

1st of many i suspect.

Reckon he will be a big game performer.

Here's why Powa have a bit of a situation down the track if they use up so much future draft capital to get NWM...

3 Powa bound players (F/S's and NGA) in Louis Salopek, Tevan Rodan and Zemes Pilot have made Rookie Me's U16's All Australian team.

Mega offers flow for Wanganeen-Milera as bidding war heats up

A number of competition sources said Port Adelaide’s financial offer for Wanganeen-Milera would exceed that of the Crows, who sit second on the ladder with several stars in their line-up and poised to enter a premiership window. Both clubs, however, have presented Wanganeen-Milera with serious options that would secure his financial future.

The mega offers to Wanganeen-Milera from across the border present the 2021 No.10 draft pick with the chance to sign a short-term deal that would carry an option to later sign on for an extended period or lock in a longer-term deal from the start.
The Saints would be open to similar options, but if Wanganeen-Milera is to re-sign it’s expected it will only be on a deal lasting two years, not one that locks him to the club for an extended period. Wanganeen-Milera’s decision to concentrate on football rather than sign an extension with the Saints before the end of the season is paying off as the market for young talent becomes inflated and his price rises. He has shown no indication as to what he wants to do next season nor has it affected his performance in any way.

I respectfully disagree.

Our 22 isn't built around Thilthorpe - and yes, our defensive pressure probably is the key part to our success, but that doesn't mean it isn't a massive shock to have three traditional tall forwards all somehow succeeding together.

Almost any other version of this would have them getting in each other's way and jumping at the same ball.

It's a product of great structural work, and Tex's intelligence. I don't think you can replace Tex with someone taller and not ruin what's working so well.

Nah, it's built around Thilthorpe. This is a team that's proving it needs to spearheaded by an elite KPF. Noting both our spikes have come with either Filthy or Tex shooting the lights out.

The thing is we've already seen a very similar variant of this set up work to brutal effect in 2023, with Thilthorpe as the third tall. That alone goes against this is a miracle run that's required a player as cerebral as Tex to make it work (also notwithstanding, Tex plays like he's a 35 year old KPF). Not only that, it's a lot easier to replicate what Thilthorpe did that season, as he mainly acted as a decoy/long down the line target.

Without a doubt it's a product of good coaching. That said, I think most of the 3 KPF not working talk, and it being a shock, comes from it being extremely difficult to find 2 (let alone 3) quality KPFs at one time. We are coming out of an era which was short of quality big men.

Sorry to intrude lads and ladettes, whats the go with young Lukey Nankervis? As a fellow Ormond man I've always tried keeping tabs on him when he's been in the AFL side but seems to be battling away in the SANFL playing a few different roles?

See him sticking around long term? Best position? Chance of getting traded?

Really liked some of the stuff I saw from him but to be frank I haven't seen enough to know a heap.

Good luck come finals and please FFS just f*** off Collingwood if you meet them there.
