To be fair Richards is probably a top 5-10 player in the comp at the moment, in a more traditionally valuable position

Worrell’s great, but not on that level
What?

Ed Richards is having a good season but it's his break out year. He's got 6 career Brownlow votes.

In a shit side he still kicked 20 goals in just 19 games. If he had the luxury of being the 3rd tall and a non primary tall target with Rankine, Dawson and co hitting him up on the lead I think he could prove quite valuable.

He's a defender. We don't need him

My mind is still boggled and my gob is still smacked that people are advocating that a high risk move is required to win a premiership.

We have got to this stage with astute drafting, trading and free agents. The lastest 3 additions proving to make a significant difference to our side. Finished minor premiers.

More of the same please.

*smh

It remains to be seen if it's premiership worthy though.
Adding another soldier to the mix may not solve the clear issue we have.

Would I love a Tom Green, Errol Gulden, etc to want to come here instead of Oliver?
Absolutely.

Has he not been top 5-10 in the league this season? ‘Good’ is an understatement
No

He's 24th favourite for the Brownlow in what is a midfielder's medal and might squeak onto the bench of the AA team

Good season but Worrell will be in the AA starting 18 imho

Worrell’s great, but not on that level

Ed Richards may not have been as dominant in the end of the season as the start but he finished with more goal assists (35) and score involvements (192) than any other player this year, making him the most damaging midfielder in the game offensively.

Agree Worrell’s starting 18, but let’s be honest, mids are generally considered more valuable than backmen

Richards is probably 24th favourite because he’s in a team where guys like Bont/Libba could steal votes from him. Per game, he’s 2nd in the comp for I50’s and score involvements, and has kicked 22 goals

IMO he starts on the field for the AA team, too

Edit: I don’t know where you got 24th from btw, he’s equal 10th favourite on Sportsbet?

Sorry, did you miss he just made the all Australian squad?

Ed Richards is the best player in the competition via Champion data for 2025 (second if Bont qualified).

He produced numbers we dreamed Rankine would have in the midfield.

I looked at that list and its got Thilthorpe at 3..yet who are you picking in the AA if it was a binary choice - him or Cameron. Bailey Dale is at 4, Touk Millar is at 6

Be interesting to see where richards polls in the Brownlow compared to Daicos, Dawson, Bont etc

As a comparison, Worrell's numbers this year are almost identical to Stewarts - and its not like Stewart flies under the radar on just how influential he is in the comp at what he does.

I am sticking with my call that Worrell is already a star of the comp and is best placed to take over Stewarts mantle in that role.

From afl.com.au's projected Brownlow votes

Maybe I'm underrating Richards' season. To me, as good as he's been this year he's still the 3rd best mid in an overrated team. And was only ever handy prior to this season

Until we win a flag how can you say our strategy is the best?

Geelong won with Stengle….

wonder if they will want to trade this pick to ensure its not just used on Harry Dean

The Blues can expect a first-round compensation pick for losing De Koning. Presently that would be at pick No.9, though it would be expected to be pushed back in the draft to at least pick 11 following bids for academy or father-son selections.

The level of free-agency compensation for Silvagni will hinge on what the final contract offer is for the 27-year-old, but based on a four-year contract in the $700,000s, it would be likely to be a second-round pick.

Harry Dean is a father son prospect the Blues are certain to secure in the draft, with a bid expected to come for him in the first round, potentially in the top 10.

Yeh. Happy to get Ah Chee. Just not for a first rounder.

If we could position ourselves for Ah Chee, Draper (free agent) and maybe bring our future first into play to get a higher draft pick I'd be about that.
If a first round pick is 18/20 that is perfectly fine to pay for an experienced best 22 player of the previous premiers

Look i'll admit he has had a great year and checking the coaches votes he is ranked well inside the top 20 so fair enough. There are a few of the so called top end mids higher up than him. How many defenders are playing better footy than Worrell..horses for courses i guess

28yo and out of contract, though

I’d prefer it if we could make two of the three thirds into a second, then trade that + F2 for Ah Chee and a F3
