Yep sure if hes performing. But hopefully our younger mids have pushed him out and outperforming him.

I just don't see that happening within 12 months.

Soligo - already in the midfield
Peatling - great prospect, probably the only one who could. Remains to be seen if he's A grade potential though, or just second string.
Curtin - probably 2 years away from being anywhere near full time mid
Draper - probably a 3 year project
Edwards - long way to go
Dowling - more wing, HF

Actually he was down the back of the 2K this year as well.

I like him, but if thats where hes starting then he needs to lift.

In 2025 we will have the 8th oldest team list - right in the middle of the pack. As you correctly note, age cannot be an excuse next year.

I would note though that we're still only 14th of 18 in terms of experience.

He definitely has some valuable traits, the accumulation and ability to go forward is already there. Kicking needs work

Guys like him and Taylor are in the ‘promising, but wait and see’ category. Getting ANB and Peatling doesn’t really help their chances of R1 selection

I suspect 1 still plays, 1 might be sub.

At this VERY early stage you'd have to say Dowling is leading that race.

Yeah especially if there’s a couple of injuries, which should probably be expected

I have a lot of time for Taylor because he is a footballer first, he has great skills and footy IQ.

The fitness issues are disappointing more so because that's something that with extra training can get better. If he really wanted to make it in the AFL world he would have hired a PT to help him.

I'm unsure why more players that have skills but not the fitness don't do this.

There are/were a lot of footballers running around Ammos and country leagues who figured if Greg Williams could be where the ball was without running too hard why should they?

You are right you need to improve both

Matt still lead our averages for centre clearances, hard ball gets and loose ball gets in 2024 .
Others with similar time weren’t close, and with Laird out of there hopefully
it’s a whole new look but Matt has to be dishing it if he is fit.

Laird will have to play defence and the wings will get the squeeze from all the talent @ half back and Curtin in the mids.

I reckon Crouch has great value with more attacking mids around him. And no Laird.

Agree as Laird steps away the only competition he has for his inside mid role is Berry - and he's much less fumble prone than Berry. If Crouch keeps playing the way he did this year I don't have a problem with him in the middle.

For some players its genetics. Doesn't matter how much training they do.
You can polish a VW as much as you like, but that won't make it a Ferrari.

I get that, but the ones we want to replace him long term (Curtin, Taylor, Draper) need to get 40 games into them before they're ready to do it full time.

Crouch is 30 in April so 31 in 2026. Should only be playing SANFL at 31. The younger mids should have taken over.

in what world? he is our best inside mid and we have no one coming through that are ready to play. He will 100% be playing in 2026.
