Personally I think Laird should be our break glass back up mid now. We need better skills off HB. His Hail Mary panic kicking isn’t good enough and it’s all down hill for him from here. Like Tex shouldn’t be starting the season in the ones. Time to turn the page.
He's also our best ground ball player in defence

I agree but Nicks doesnt

Its not about improving the position for Nicks - its about trust and he trusts Laird and Milera to hold the spots and its senior continuity credits

Nicks is all about playing it "Safe" or taking the "Safe option"

This is why we still have ROB as ruck and why when push came to shove in the finals he threw Laird in the middle

I don't think it is all doom and gloom but Its time to mix it up as we wont win many games with Laird, Taylor and Berry running through your midfield

We needed Rankine in both finals in the middle, Rachele needs to be running through the middle at times as well. Unleash Curtin instead of leaving him on the wing, and get rid of ROB and give McAndrew a run

Who is our no 1 D50 exiter?
In a perfect world, it would be Jordan Dawson.
Our ball movement issues would be dramatically solved with the skipper in a Tom Stewart role. I think he'd make our other defenders better and bring them into the game more than just defending.

I've got wind from one of the AFC coaches that McAndrews has put on a bit of size, could beat ROB out come round 1

New rules would benefit McAndrews, hurts ROB unfortunately

We need competition at that spot to keep ROB training honest

That’s great news now we’ve signed him for 3 years!

Most are saying the throw up helps ROB as you dont need to be asthletic in last minute movement depending on ball bounce. Anyway if McAndrew can go ahead of him then fantastic but doubt it will happen.

Does anyone know if McAndrew can kick with his feet or does he also favour his shins?

Thanks in advance

ROB usually gets out jumped so won't help him.

He's best when he engages to nullify thr other ruckman.

Which is why he’s better at boundary throw ins and other ball ups rather than the centre square - he’s much better at wrestling and out bodying his opponents.

I can’t imagine the changes in rules and the introduction of the last touch rule will help him or us

I have been saying for years that I am not a fan of ROB. We should have never re signed him, but again failed to make a tough decision to let him go as what the supporters might think. He is a huge liability out there. His foot skills are terrible, Barely takes any marks around the ground (averages less than 1 a quarter), always seems to position himself in the wrong spots around the ground, Below average for Clearances for a Ruckman. Got Dominated by Cameron and Meek in the Finals. I think days of just being a one trick tap ruckman are done, need to be much more than that.

Sometimes the supporters get fooled by the “he tries hard” mantra

Coaches too....

I think the general committee of Milera/Hinge/Worrell/Max is fine re: distributors, but it’d be nice if we could get a high touch, elite disposal half-back. Not necessarily a priority though
I’d love to see us take a crack at Keidean Coleman. He absolutely fits the bill on all the qualities we need and we should be able to pitch a bigger role and/or a bigger salary here versus the Lions.
