Has Lachie Neales off field issues opened the door ajar for the Crows to chase him as a FA? Same age age Petracca, he looks like he has a couple of years left and SA is his home state and would cost us nothing really. While its 99.9% unlikely as I think his wife and kids have moved back to WA, could still be worth asking the question.

There would be plenty of crows players past and present who cheated. We just dont here about it because they were able to keep it quiet. I dont think cheating is grounds to run a red line through someone.

Being too old and too expensive are reasons enough on their own - he may have a couple years left of an AFL career, but he has no years left as a top midfielder, and we don't need another bench-reserves-flanker, especially one with no future to develop.

Petracca is 2 years younger, probably has a year or two left as a top line mid, and I still don't think it was a good idea to go after him.

I also think we went after him late, as a reaction to our finals exit, and either Petracca felt we were half assed and not pursuing him seriously, or we actually weren't pursuing him seriously and it was all for the sort of theatre the current club admin lean into far too often.

The major difference more likely to be what we would pay at trade, not what we’d pay Petracca.
