I think the best chance of a diamond in the rough is to wait until MSD, but even then, you need to be in the bottom few. I don’t see us being there. But I wouldn’t waste a list spot just to fill it up, particularly on a mid-age player. Add the available cap space to further frontload someone or keep it on case we want to delist a player with a year to run come the end of the season.

Potentially.

But it feels like a big assumption from our part if we think he’s guaranteed to make it as a full time mid.

I want him either way but I think he’ll always be a HF who plays on ball in bursts.

Unless you’re picking early, the likelihood that you’re getting anything better than depth in the MSD is very slim. What’s perfect for injury cover is the early 2nd rounders on your list with a preseason or 2 under the belt that are performing well in the 2s.

We don’t trust our culture to have a sailing close to the wind type. Golden child or piss off, that’s how we run list management. But we’ll take on a degenerate punter if he’s from the ‘right family’.

I don't think NWM is realistic without a top 5 pick as a starting point. Don't see us that low or trading out anyone with decent value. 3 predicted picks 12 and beyond just won't do it, we're no hope and he only wants Port anyway. Any decisions based on preferring him are seriously flawed.
