Clutching, surely even you can concede that Hamish has stuffed up by not focusing on midsI'm sure Jarryd Lyons had 30 disposal games just not with us.
Same with Laird in the midfield before his more recent move back to defence.

The Anti-North ??Clutching, surely even you can concede that Hamish has stuffed up by not focusing on mids
And? He said this yearJake Soligo was the Showdown medalist last year with a 30+ disposals game.
Plenty of time in 2026 left yet and Jake looked to have his mojo back on the weekend in the Snaffle after health issues early in the season/preseason.And? He said this year
The sentiment, the analysis and the results including 2025 finals debacle, indicate the talent we have in our midfield isn’t good enough to make us a premiership contender. Do you disagree?Plenty of time in 2026 left yet and Jake looked to have his mojo back on the weekend in the Snaffle after health issues early in the season/preseason.
Mutineer I see you’ve declined to provide your opinion again, so I’ll ask again, do you think Hamish and Justin have recruited us a premiership quality midfield?
Now I appreciate having to give an answer might cause you some distress given what the likely answer will be, but surely you’re capable of giving one.
The continual reappointing of Nicks fits the AFC definition of insanityI believe their are 3 key areas to winning a premiership
Recruitment, game plan, and player development.
If you use last year as a guide, player recruitment was very good. Dawson, Soligo, Rachele, Rankine, Curtin, Berry, Draper and Ah Chee are good enough to become an elite level midfield.
Game plan: if we had a coach who has the capacity to stick to one game plan and consistently develop that would give us a good chance at winning game. Then we can worry about finals and grand finals. Right now, we don’t even look like making the top 8.
Player development: same as game plan, we need a coach who isn’t afraid to make the hard call and give young players ago and let them develop, instead of playing multiple roles in the SANFL and chop and change where they play every week.
We have elite level player with skills and attributes to develop into a high level team. We just don’t have a coach or coaching panel who have to ability, competency or patience to stick with one idea.
New coach gives us that chance to become an elite team again. Nicks isn’t it.

Just my opinion but I’d totally leave the back 6 alone. That’s set and are playing great footy.Rachele and Rankine get listed in the midfield group when people reel of names but then also list them as adding creativity into our forwards line.
Of course they can be both to a degree but to be a genuine contender we need that quality up forward and in Dawson's case we need him down back. It leaves the midfield with Curtin, Draper, Berry, and Soligo.
We either add elite players up forward and in defence or the midfield .
So is that a yes or no? Sounds like a lot of deflection and you do realise how long ago Danger was? The fact you’ve even had to mention him says it all. Seriously clutching.Did Matt Rendell ever draft a Premiership winning midfield at the Crows in his time with us?
You do realise Hamish also had a fair bit of input into us drafting Dangerfield which is there for everyone to see on the public record.
Both Rendell and Ogilvie joined the Crows in 2007, Hamish was actually Rendell's first appointment when he took over the Head recruiter role at the club replacing James Fantasia.
YepJust my opinion but I’d totally leave the back 6 alone. That’s set and are playing great footy.
Take out Berry - put him in the opportunities list. I wouldnt have Pedlar anywhere near a midfield while we have Draper and Edwards in the mixMidfield still stink, but I’d have Dawson, Rankine, Rachele and Berry (run with option) as my starting 4 with Peatling and Curtin as my 2 wings. Then Soligo, Pedlar and ANB getting midfield opportunities. This is still a work in progress.
Game plan and development suck, but the issue with the list you’ve provided is there’s a lot of could have be a great midfield and players who weren’t drafted as pure mids. I wouldn’t be including Berry in that lot nor Ah Chee, he’s not a mid.I believe their are 3 key areas to winning a premiership

We run a midfield of any combination of this firing at 100% and its not far off being pretty legit.Yep

Find out early who isnt working , Berry Pedlar and develop young draftees
Ithinkknow we spend too much time waiting for the almost players

Hugh Bond was a midfielder for the GWV Rebels for his 2 seasons in the Victorian U18's competition and only ever played the 4 games as a small/medium defender for Vic Country at the Nationals. Why he hasn't been given a "cooler" role in the midfield when an oppo player is well and truly off the chain amazes me. i.e. Lachie Neale on the weekend.Yeah, that makes sense. Only reason Berry was in the starting midfield was as a run with (cooler) player if we need that position filed, but ideally Draper goes into the midfield rotation

Why not give him a tagging role on one of JHF or Butters this week, he has elite endurance to run with either all day and he is definitely not a plodder speed wise that someone referred to him as on here today. Hugh has all the tools to be a very good "cooler".
Taken from Rookie Me's draft profile.
SNAPSHOT: “A ferociously competitive ball winner who runs hard and makes his presence felt going both ways.”
There are few harder and more physical competitors among this year’s crop of midfielders than Hugh Bond, a talented multi-sport athlete out of the Greater Western Victoria Rebels region.
A rower at the national level, Bond has put his focus into footy of late, and overcame seperate injuries both last year and in preseason to produce a solid top-age campaign. He turned out 12 times for the Rebels this season, earning Vic Country selection and stepping up in big games.
Bond’s move to defence while donning representative colours only boosted his stocks, with the on-baller’s desire to hunt both the opposition and ball translating well to his role behind the ball. With his strong physique and running capacity, there is plenty to like.

I don’t know, maybe it’s because Nicks has rocks for brains.
Nicks is stubborn and inflexible with his player positioning and he refused to make positional changes unless you have played that role during an entire preseason.
